So with this new 10.2 beta 1 release, does that mean no JB coming for 10.1.1 now ? Will the Jailbreak wait till 10.3 or something down the road ?

I was planning on using my T-Mobile 'Jump on Demand' to grab an iPhone 7 Plus for zero down, and keep my same monthly payment, and play around with an Apple gadget for a while. Would still be keeping my Nexus 6P of course :)

But if there's no JB on the horizon at all now, I may have to pass. I could never deal with a plain stock iPhone.

I guess you mean iOS 10.2.1 beta 1

As most people update to latest iOS version my guess is that it might take some time for a JB to be released, as the commercial JB teams like Pangu aim for large user bases for their appstores.

Then again somebody might release a working JB for 10.1.1 if all bugs used in it might have been fixed in 10.2, if not it might mean they did not have anything or some of the bugs are still zeroday and are saved for future JB's. Typically a JB needs about 5 seperate bugs to get a untethered JB.

I appreciate a true solid reply, thx.

I do not understand the sarcastic and rude comments of, yeah it will be released on March 8th, 2017 at 1:00pm. LOL dumbass

I am a Nexus guy, big ROM fan, and I am so used to Android phones having pretty realistic release dates on when root will be available, or when TWRP Recovery will be released, or a rough idea as to when a ROM update will come out.

But with Jailbreak, it seems so up in the air, no freaking clue. Why is that ? Why isn't Jailbrekaing like rooting a Android phone ? I am being serious.

Or I suppose Jailbreaking an iPhone is like rooting a Samsung Galaxy phone on U.S. carriers now. Rooting an ATT Galaxy S7 for example, is near impossible nowadays. Samsung has totally locked down their phones tight the past couple years, that rooting and ROM'ing Galaxy phones on U.S. carriers is a thing of the past sadly :( Where a few years ago, that was big business, the good old days back with the Galaxy Note II, and Galaxy S3, they had amazing development going for them, even with Cyanogen CM ROM's too, it was great. But those days are over, due to the locked bootloaders today.

Sad to say JB fading away, and ROM'ing Android phones now too, except just the Pixel only.

Isn't there already root for us carriers of the 7 and 7 edge? I'm pretty sure there is :)

Yeah same gimped type of root. Not true root with TWRP Recovery to allow ROM's. Just a funny work around type of root. Just sad the state of rooting and ROM'ing flagship phones nowadays. Those glory XDA Development days of a million different ROM's and themes, and options to choose from are long gone.

What does saving the SHSH do for us on iOS 10? I thought they were useless now? I can't remember how they work.

At the iPhone hacks section.

It's good to have them available in case something gets released in the future that will be able to take advantage of them and let you restore to unsigned older jailbreakable iOS.
There's been talk for years and many of us have been saving our blobs with hopes and dreams:)

I tried this root method on my S7 Edge. It was hardly anything special and it made my phone lag beyond anything I had ever seen before. I would sometimes wait 30 seconds for my phone app to even open.

I tried all the suggestions that they mentioned in the rooting thread including tweaking the governor and other changes. Nothing seemed to work so I went back to stock.

Sadly, going forward, I think all Samsung phones in the US will have locked bootloaders just like the S7/S7 Edge.

I just purchased a used iphone 6 64gb and it came with ios 9.3.4. Should I update to ios 10.2 or can I update to ios 10.1.1? Are there more chances of a jailbreak for ios 10.1.1 rather than for ios 10.2? What is best to do?

I am trying to go from ios 9.3.4 to ios 10.1.1 using the ipsw for my iphone 6 but when I click Restore iphone on itunes and choose my ipsw for 10.1.1 14B150, it tells me that it could not be restored because the firmware is not compatible. Is apple not signing it anymore or I chose the wrong ipsw?

I would get onto 10.1.1 while you can, you can always update to 10.2 later if needed.
The signing window for 10.1.1 will close before 10.2 ;) Could also save the hashes as a just in case.

Maybe update iTunes to newest.

Hmm I have mixed emotions on this. I'm excited about a new jailbreak, but at the same time wonder why bother. The last time I JB on ios9 almost all of the apps I used had not been updated for ios9, some of them had not been updated for years. The devs were unresponsive to emails and it seemed like no one really cared. Cydia just seemed like a vast graveyard of older JB apps. Really all I want out of JB is a dark theme and multiple docks with more than 4 icons.
