But it still remains fact that carrier settings updates are not always dependent on iOS updates. They can happen independently.
I have had Vodafone updates without an ios update and recently had an ee one aswell.

BTW I know the Three VoLTE 'theory' isn't really that useful because Three themselves are being very vague, so it doesn't really make anything clearer. But their original date for the VoLTE iPhone update was 21st October - they were saying this in September. This date went by and was seemingly delayed, but what was released on that date? iOS 9.1. For whatever reason they missed the deadline for 9.1. Then they started talking about 'mid-December' - which I still firmly believe is a reference to their expected 9.2 release date. But they are now being more sceptical and saying by 'end of year' and possibly the new year. Whether this is because 9.2 is being delayed or they have missed the 9.2 release and are going to do it as a separate carrier update is not clear. Anyway, I'll move on...

"GreyOS" will beg to differ... I too have had and seen carrier settings updates totally unconnected to iOS updates on Verizon and T-Mobile...
I would not beg to differ. I have repeated time and time again that carrier updates independent of iOS updates DO happen. What I have said is that they are also rolled into software updates and that it may be preferable for carriers and Apple to distribute them more silently like that. I believe EE rolled out Wifi calling with 8.3 (it was also a carrier update for people staying on 8.2). On Three I don't think I have ever had a carrier update, and yet I have carrier specific settings and the carrier version number increases with each iOS update (not necessarily indicating anything has really changed, but is evidence that changes can happen with iOS updates). Also if you see my post above about Three claiming VoLTE was coming to iPhone on October 21st way back in September, and then iOS 9.1 coming out on this date (with VoLTE sadly delayed). Could be a pure coincidence but I don't think it's that crazy a theory, jeez

I see you saying iOS updates are required for carrier settings updates... I'm saying that's not true... that carrier settings often appear to you to be coincidental with iOS updates is just that - coincidence.

Lol find where I've said iOS updates are required for carrier settings updates?

Nevermind, can't be arsed to discuss this with someone who can't read properly

Nice thought ending cliche... can't refute facts, resort to personal attack. Thanks for a demonstration of your character.;
Ok I apologise. My original request for you to find where I said that iOS updates are required for carrier update settings remains
