In the meantime here's me saying the opposite:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/when-will-ios-9-2-be-out.1933043/page-14#post-22324374
"Carrier updates can -- and often are -- distributed with iOS updates."
If I thought carrier updates could ONLY be distributed with iOS updates I wouldn't have used the word 'can' and 'often' I would have said they always are.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/when-will-ios-9-2-be-out.1933043/page-14#post-22324425
"I know it's possible [for people to receive a carrier update independently of iOS updates]"

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/when-will-ios-9-2-be-out.1933043/page-19#post-22337252
"I have repeated time and time again that carrier updates independent of iOS updates DO happen"

And yet right after this last post you say "I see you saying iOS updates are required for carrier settings updates"

So you can understand my frustration, perhaps?

Can I ask something about carrier updates? My understanding is you are prompted to update them, they're not silently installed. Either the prompt comes on its own or it is triggered by going to the Settings About screen. Is this all correct so far?

So if, when 9.2 is released and I install it, VoLTE is activated for me and I never see a carrier update prompt, will that be enough for you to accept this scenario is possible?

BTW I know the Three VoLTE 'theory' isn't really that useful because Three themselves are being very vague, so it doesn't really make anything clearer. But their original date for the VoLTE iPhone update was 21st October - they were saying this in September. This date went by and was seemingly delayed, but what was released on that date? iOS 9.1. For whatever reason they missed the deadline for 9.1. Then they started talking about 'mid-December' - which I still firmly believe is a reference to their expected 9.2 release date. But they are now being more sceptical and saying by 'end of year' and possibly the new year. Whether this is because 9.2 is being delayed or they have missed the 9.2 release and are going to do it as a separate carrier update is not clear. Anyway, I'll move on...

Just got off the line to Three's technical people who were adamant that the iPhone update for VOLTE will come in a speperate carrier update on the 15th December. One of the many waiting for the update.....

And of course the 3D Touch function for multitasking or trackpad - it works like a charm...

Ahh good, it isn't just me...I had wondered if that was a bug...only being able to use 3D touch on the keyboard for moving the cursor around 1/10 tries

delay of top bar after unlock, Safari crashes, animation lags sometimes etc.
The only thing in your list that relates to stability problems is the "safari crashes"... which I haven't seen (you're refering to crashes of the app or the tabs?). But OK. I want all those things fixed, of course, but 9.2 is actually pretty stable.

And there have certainly been more of those instability issues, especially as related to Safari, in iOS 8.

Yes. Two things convinced me to update to iOS 9: content blockers and the improvements in Safari.
I would love to have all the glitches and performance issues fixed, but, as it is, iOS 9.2 is running fine.
Design stuff you don't agree with is another story.

developer apps are starting to crash after updates, so assume because they dont care about iOS8 anymore. 9.2 would be helpful to upgrade to soon.

3D Touch the very left edge of the screen, nearer the bottom works better, depending on how you swipe it either takes you into multitasking view or into the last app.
I find that if I press as far to the left as I can get (thumb is partially on the screen and partially on the case), it works every time.

It would be nice if there was a icon next to user names to know what device everybody has. 6s+ here only lag I ever notice is in messages pulling up shortcuts and also when going home there is a delay before you can press another app(this was present in the initial version of iOS 8).

Nope. Today. 10am PST. My co-worker has an inside line through her boyfriend who met someone who used to work for Apple.
