When will you be installing iOS 18 on your iPhone?

  • I already put the developer beta on my primary iPhone. Excelsior!

  • When public beta is out

  • On release day

  • When iOS 18.1 comes out

  • When iOS 18.2 comes out

  • I'm still running iOS 16 for some reason

Probably the days before it drops to the public. Then wait for devs to update their apps.

Sometime between 8.0 and 8.1. I've always been a late adopter to everything.

Maybe earlier if my MVNO enables RCS.

The temptation of iOS 18 customised home screen is just too much to resist for me. I never bothered about jailbreaking nor much of customisation which was only possible through jailbreak back in the day. But officially supported customisation? Hell yeah bring it on.

What actually surprises me is the number of apps not updated to support iOS 18 (for obvious reasons) with proper dark mode icons included.

These are some of the third party ones with dark mode icon I found on my iPad. It’s a surprising amount to me.
Ironically enough, the Keynote app Icon has no dark mode version just yet.

I love that wallpaper, is it from a game?

With Apples last take to continue to support all devices on iOS 16 for a while when iOS 17 was released I will wait until 18.1 for myself and regular users at work.

The last iOS 16 update provided for all devices that also could run iOS 17 was released that the same time as 17.1
So I take it Apple themselfs consider X.1 or whenever they stop supporting devices on both OS to be when things are stable enough.

I usually jump on the major-release-beta-train around developer beta 5 or 6 on my main iPhone and watch.
On my secondary iPhone, I am running the beta since day 1 thou.

18.2 maybe even 18.3

Most features won't be available at launch so no rush and I am tired of the constant bugs on iOS in the last few years so I'm staying on iOS 17 until the end of the year or early next.

preferably yesterday, but I will wait to release day. I'm just a bit impatient but since I also hate bugs and can't handle a phone that don't work properly I don't beta test. But I'm looking forward to the new iOS and I hope we get all the new features, but I don't think we'll get all of them since we're not in the EU.

iOS 18 doesn’t seem that interesting a release to me

I dunno I’ll prolly update sometime next year or maybe even just skip it. If I get new hardware that obviously changes since it’ll be iOS 18 loaded

I don’t trust apple quality control on software

On release day. And I´m pretty sure i will regret it because Apple will succeed - like every year - making ALL MY USUAL ways of working at least one click/tap longer. And useless submenus and wasted space.
But I´m not angry anymore. I surrendered a long time ago knowing that beside all of the genius they have there are a lot of totally morons. And I´m not able to change it.
I have to correct me. The new photo app is horrible so I will not update at all.

Normally I'm a beta 1 kinda guy every year, but iOS 18 is so unappealing and honestly ugly to me that I have zero desire to install it. Nothing about it excites me, so for the first time ever, will wait till release day.

Those tinted screens look absolutely hideous to me. I do like the option to remove the app name to make the icon bigger.

I usually run the betas on my iPad so I know what's coming. Then on launch day I'll install to my phone. This is the first year since 2018 that my iPad has not been eligible for a new version of iOS, so I'm waiting until launch day to install on my iPhone.

If you've been around this forum for any length of time you might know I'm pro-jailbreaking. I had my 6s+ on iOS 9.0.1 (jailbroken) from October 2015 to December 2020. Many people got out of jailbreaking over the years. I did as well by 2020, but the things that made me leave were not the same reasons others left. The usual refrain was "Apple made it so I don't have to jailbreak."

It's a statement I never thought I'd make, but it would seem that if iOS 18 allows you to put icons on the springboard wherever you like now, then I no longer have a reason to jailbreak (aside from all my other reasons). I guess that was my main sticking point over the years.

Looking forward to launch day.
I miss jailbreaking, but a lot of the tweaks I used were not being updated, so I had no choice, as I were upgrading my iPhones and couldn’t jailbreak the new iPhones. I do miss customizing my iPhones and iPads.

I was tempted to update my iPad to the beta, but stopped at the last minute. I’ll keep my 15PM on ios 17 until release day for ios 18.

Which iPad model and what version ya currently on?

I think I'll stay put too on my iPad mini, the device that would be most likely to update for this sort of thing but also gonna just chill.
