I miss what it was, particularly the 2011 to 2013 era. But shortly after the release of iOS 9.1 came the era of the semi-untethered jailbreak and all its hassles. So, I just chose to stay where I was on the device I had jailbroken on 9.0.1. That lasted five years until things became so broken it was just better to update the device.I miss jailbreaking, but a lot of the tweaks I used were not being updated, so I had no choice, as I were upgrading my iPhones and couldn’t jailbreak the new iPhones. I do miss customizing my iPhones and iPads.
With some of my other devices I've messed around with newer jailbreaks, but again I don't wish to deal with the hassle of semi-untethered. On top of that a lot of new JB devs are simply recreating what's been lost or broken and often in an inferior form. I just walked away.
There was a time where I claimed that those who left were settling for what Apple had to offer and I'm sure some are thinking that about me. But in my mind, it's jailbreaking that abandoned me and not the other way around. I deal with what Apple has to offer because I am unwilling to settle for the kinds of current jailbreaks that now exist. The kicker is that someone could release a fully-untethered jailbreak if they wanted. Exploits have been hoarded. But a JB reveals them and I guess hoarding an exploit is more important than making a fully untethered jailbreak. IDK. It doesn't matter because things are the way they are now.
But, if in the future a fully untethered JB is again released, I'm there.
