Sorry if answered already in another post, but is the new movies in iTunes up for rentals only limited to rentals and we won't be able to purchase them?

Yes, anything from Warner, Sony, Fox, and Universal is only available for renting.

Disney and Paramount movies are available to buy and rent.

Thanks for the reply :) Why I Love Macrumors so much.

No prob. Good luck. :)

Oh and watch out what you do. Don't start watching the movie as it's downloading because once you start watching you only have 24 hours. But you have 30 days to START watching it, so the thing to do in my opinion is download the whole thing (takes quite a while...like 4+ hours) and wait for a day when you have plenty of time to watch it.

4+ hours??

It took me about 30 min to download robocop... and where does the file save? When I check the info... it says not available... hmmm

Someone else on another thread was saying that they were only getting 50 kbps. Sounds like you got fortunate and didn't get stuck in line with everyone. :D

My connection speed is 1378.4 kbps

I started a Rat•a•too•ee Disney movie download at 6:15, it is now 11:08 and there is 22 minutes left. Checking the list of available rentals with power search showed this movie as one of the top three most popular. Is that where the slow down is at? At Apple?

So now that you've all had a chance to play with it ... how does it work?
It downloads the movie to your HD and then deletes it?
How does it delete it? Empty trash? Does it empty everything else in the trash?

Yep, seems the server was just slow the first day... When I downloaded 300 on Tues., it was about 7 hours. I tried again last night with Die Hard, and it was only 44 minutes :D

It never deleted mine. At least not yet and it expired two days ago. It removed it from the itunes library but it was still on my hdd taking up the full 1.2GB. Which to me that is really stupid because now you don't have it in itunes reminding you to delete it but it is still on that hdd.

Well that first rental must have been a fluke because my second rental did delete itself so all good here.
