If there were an apple store close to where i live, id go there. And if they sell in phone shops (in UK) maybe ill go and see one for real before i buy it.

i would like to buy it at my apple store but switching over from verizon it might be easier to go to cingular...
i'll have to see how the retail store is going to handle the switch.

Since I work here at an AT&T formaly Cingular Wireless store I will definatly get it the day it comes out no doubt!:)

Going to have to buy from the Cingular store as I have to get a family plan and get another phone for my wife. On month to month right now with Verizon.

I wish could just buy her a phone now/sign a contract and when the Iphone comes out get it from Apple online add it into the account and upgrade to a family plan.

I believe that you can do this by starting with an individual plan. You would just have to extend your contract when you add the 2nd phone to upgrade to a family plan.

Thanks Eraserhead for your help, but i wan't to know if i buy the iphone in the US, and then i take it to my country, will it work here? or it is going to work just for Cingular by now?

waiting?

I'll buy it at the Cingular store probably, it would probably be easier. That, or use a student discount online at apple. But I might wait, see if there is news about apple upgrading from that sad 8 gb hard drive.

I got 3 apple stores within 15-20 minutes of me and countless cingular stores so it really doesnt matter

my company gives 50% towards the purchase of a new cingular phone (when purchased with a plan) because the two companies have a partnership. if this deal exists on the iphone, ill be ordering one through my company's cingular page.

on a side note, according to cingular's wireless reception page (http://www.cingular.com/coverageviewer/), my house falls into a "moderate" zone. does anyone else live in such an area, and if so, how's your cell phone reception indoors? i currently have verizon, and although the reception is superb, im a bit tired of their inflated prices and crippling of bluetooth. not to mention rollover would be nice.

Cingular Store.

I'm gonna have to sign-up for a new contract for the entire family. Which means that in addition to the iPhone, we'll be walking out with a new two-year plan and an additional two phones. Should be a fun thousand bucks.

I live Montana, and will drive or fly to Seattle and buy one. I would love to have a Washington/Seattle number. Assuming this is possible. Is it, since I don't live in the state?

Cinch

i don't plan on buying one. but if i did, it'd most likely from craigslist, ebay, or somewhere that would not require me to sign a contract.

I am going to buy it from the place that can do all of the following:

a) Have it in stock
b) Have it the cheapest
c) Allow me to walk out of the store that day with it

No way am I going to wait for it to be shipped. I use my phone for business and since I will be moving my number, I can't afford to not have a phone for a few days while its shipped. Even overnight is unacceptable.

So, no, I won't be buying it from an online retailer.

First off, if you use it for business, then it might be a wise move to wait for the 2nd Gen version of the iPhone. As far as your stipulations go...

A) Apple Store, will be your best bet. Online even better.

B) No such thing as cheapest. Unless AT&T is going to offer a plan were they subsidize the phone in order for it to come down in price, I highly doubt you'll see any price fluctuations across the board. Would be nice but I don't think it will happen.

C) Refer to (A).

By the way, not for nothing, I understand that you use it for business but you sound like a brat. Especially with the whole...

Schedule the switch over to the new phone when you have down time, in the event you have problems, but I don't have to tell you that, since most sharp business people would do that anyway ;-)

do they sell at&t at best buy? i'm still torn about this, i kinda want one but the storage you get for that price....i don't know. 8gb for 600 bucks. eh.

I'll be going to a local AT&T store, and hope that getting there an hour early would suffice.

I would get in on-line, but in my experience, someone has to be home to sign for it when it comes.

I think part of the agreement between AT&T & Apple was the iPhone was only to be sold at official Apple & AT&T/Cingular stores.

I will be buying the phone at the AT&T store.

I figure for myself, why buy the phone at one place and then have to go somewhere else to sign a contract to use it?

I would rather get it all done together at the same time.

I'm currently on T-Mobile, which is up soon after the release of the phone.

i'm planning on going to an apple store (if i take a 20 minute drive north to new hampshire to the closest store across the state line, i won't have to pay sales tax ;) ). i'm thinking of getting there an hour before the mall opens. i'm already a cingular customer so hopefully it won't take long to get one and get out of there so i get it set up with my mac at home. :)

This thread presumes that we are all going to buy the iPhone. I know that I for one am not the least bit interested. I want a phone to be a phone (duh!) and do that one thing right. In my experience phones (or anything else for that matter) that try to do too many things fall short in most all of them. Maybe the iPhone will be different, but I am still not interested.

of course it presumes we're going to buy an iphone - was the thread title unclear to you? how does "where will you buy your iphone from" NOT indicate this? if you're not planning on buying one, why would you even bother to look at this thread, much less post in it?
