Don't want it to be "one of those" color threads again but especially in case of the iPad Pro, I have been debating a lot on what bezel color I should go for this time.

I had ordered a white/gold iPad 10.5 just when the store opened again after WWDC. In fact, I always bought black Apple products, iPad 1, Mini 2, iPhone 5s, 6s, 7, so I wanted a change initially. But right after ordering, I started to wonder if I made the right decision. After watching a dozen videos and pictures, I decided to cancel my order and purchase a Black/Space Grey once again.

I know, for media consumption black bezels are generally preferred because they blend in better, it also seem to make the screen pop more than a white bezel. The iPad Pro however, is made for a lot more than just media consumption. With its pencil it's awesome for drawing, IOS11 brings productivity a lot closer to laptops, true tone makes books look like real paper.. You could say, all in favor of white.

Is black still the way to go for most of ya? Or did people actually go the opposite with the new Pro's and went for white instead?

Which bezel color did you go for and why? What is the main purpose for your iPad Pro?

Gold. When I buy a brand new, high-end Apple device, I want people to NOTICE it. I pick the color with the most flair, the one that will turn the most heads. In Gold's case, its also a nice choice because it emphasizes my finances. Not that any Apple users are all that poor, but Gold is somewhat reserved for those who have serious amounts of $$$.

I actually prefer the black bezel, but these reasons were why I picked a maxed out gold iPad.

So you bought gold just so people would notice, hmm okay lol

I ordered the Rose Gold this time after cancelling my initial space grey version.

Main reason being I wanted a change. I have always had the black bezel iPads (I think I may have had white belle iPad 2) but I'm using my iPad less and less to watch movies on which is why I always bought the black bezel. I will be using this to type and draw on and to me the white bezel just makes more sense for that because it's paper colour.

But it was a tough call... some I do hope I made the right choice :D

I understand this reasoning and I believe you're right. Although I didn't want to take the risk of going white instead of black this time. I went safe and ordered the black one after all.

I will probably go and check a store later on to see if I made the right choice. We still have 14 days to change our mind and send it back for another one.

What I really want is the black bezel with the gold back. I bought white for my last few devices and didn't like how the white of the screen (drawing apps or reading apps) was such a different shade than the bezels no matter how I set it. My new 10.5 will be black.

You'd think drawing and reading apps would blend better with a white bezel.

Current iPads have black bezel. Just purchased a refurb WIFI + Cellular with black bezel to replace wife's WIFI only iPad. Will be buying either a refurb 9.7 Pro with cellular or 10.5 with cellular for myself with black bezel. I like the contrast between the black bezel and screen verses the white bezel.

I've had iPads in both colors and prefer black. But, I like the rose gold. So, it's a white bezel for me this time. It's not really a matter of having my Apple devices match. Simply a color preference.

I like the Gold and Rose gold rear colors. However, its the front we're looking at all the time. I appreaciate the look of the back, especially at the beginning but the "wow factor" diminishes after a while, then it's just the screen I care most for.

I really like the look of the Rose gold, but having it myself is a complete other thing. I don't know...

I ordered the Space Grey to match my iPhone (and in the future when I upgrade my MBP I plan to opt for Space Grey so at that point everything will match). I like to keep things consistent. Also I just find the black just looks more premium in a way (and it ages better too... I find the white can get a bit of a yellowed look to it after a while).

I opted for the white border as I bought my ipad for artwork. Also find the black ones a bit dull and depressing after a while.

I could care less about the back color, I want a cover on it and will pick that color I prefer. I do like white bezels tho, more relaxing to use, to me. I actually placed an order for the new 12.9" IPP in SG (dont really like any of the choices). Got the Order Confirmation email and noticed the SG had black bezels. Now I, myself, think this is a little weird but the black bezels remind me of the first few ipads that I had, ipad 2&4. The last few I've had have been with white bezels. So just did not want this new $1k ipad to remind me in any way of the ipad 2 so I changed my order to Silver color. Am happy again, well except for it wont arrive until 6/19

Silver iPad Pro.
I prefer the white bezel. The white bezel is easier for reading, browsing, mail, about everything...

When I watch a movie/ stream, it’s dark anyway.

I never understood the attractiveness of ‘black’ regarding it things.

White bezels will never match the shade of the LCD screen white, nor will black bezels match an LCD black screen.

I understand the style side more for something like an IPhone since it's taken out of the house more then IPads are, and there should be choice, but I am surprised Apple doesn't have a second model with a black bezel.

All this changes when Apple goes OLED, where the black bezel will match the black screen perfectly. Wouldn't be surprised if we see the Matte black IPad at that point.

I have the Silver IPP and their are a few reasons why I opted for the Space Gray this time around:

First and foremost, resale value. Space Gray is the most popular color and will sell better relative to the other colors. Furthermore, my IPP will be in a case so it really does not matter what the back or trim colors are. I would rather be able to sell my IPP faster than worry about the color.

Second, with the updated screen, colors will pop more with black bezels than with white. However, I really like the white bezels because they look cleaner and they create sort of a bias lighting effects when in the dark. I like to keeps things clean and black always shows everything, but I guess I will have to deal with it...until IPP goes bezeless.

This deserves repeating. Because I'm still laughing out loud.
