Safari (main browser), Firefox (2nd choice), Chromium (3rd choice) and Opera (as a final option). I refuse to install Google Chrome. I don't need Google's tracking crap. Chromium is Chrome before Google adds it's crap. :)

Safari on Apple devices, Chrome on Windows and on OSX for porn - I mean, Flash. I'm not installing Flash on Macs.

My primary browser is Chrome, followed by Safari. I prefer the UI of Chrome to Safari, plus the customization suits me a bit better as well.

I have also been poking around at Vivaldi, I am liking it, but not enough for it to be my primary browser.

Has anyone tried Opera Dev?
I've been using Opera Beta for some time, it's been getting better...

But, since reading this morning that a Chinese company has made an offer to buy Opera and its intellectual property, and Opera's shareholders have recommended the sale, I'm pretty much done with Opera...

Firefox and Chrome just have annoying user interfaces. They are both not as quickly to set up, do not have the best security and privacy features enabled by default and just have some unnecessary extensions and services, like some Google extensions or services and Firefox with the above-mentioned Pocket extension. Among all these browsers, Safari just has the most preferable default settings, a very straightforward and accessible preferences menu and overall just a very minimalistic UI that you can bring down to its essentials easily.

Is there any risk if I don't update frequently Safari to the latest version due I always browse with FireFox?

Safari is updated automatically when you update OS X, unless you run an older version of OS X of course, in which case it is still automatically updated through the App Store.

I would actually prefer to use Chrome or Firefox, as both offer much more in the way of customization. But the bottom line for me is integration. Using Safari on multiple Macs and iDevices is just so much easier. My completely unscientific speed tests also show me that Safari is much faster than Firefox, and mildly faster than Chrome (though I'm on the beta channel for Chrome and FF).

The reason I like Chrome on my rMBP is because I can see all my favorites in the top bar; I like clicking them when I need to. I don't like opening and trying to find them.
Have you tried going under Safari's View menubar item and selecting "Show Favorites Bar" (Command + Shift + B)?

I mostly use Safari on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. However, I do have Chrome on all those devices, just in case a website doesn't work well in Safari. Although that is not bound to happen a lot. It's just nice to have it in case it's needed.

Safari works incredibly well between all those devices, thanks to iCloud Tabs and of course Handoff. I never thought I would actually use that much, but it turns out I do. And the speed of Safari is great as well. Chrome is quick too, but Safari just feels more polished and all. :p

I never knew. It wasn't on by default and I thought the only way to see the faves was by opening a new tab. Thanks!

You're welcome... glad to help.

Now if Apple would allow us to click on a folder in the Favorites bar and just slide over to another one without having to "un-click" to close the first one and re-click to open the second one, life would be great. Every other browser does this, why Safari doesn't is beyond me.

I use Safari mostly because of iCloud with iPhone.

Use Chrome too when watching YouTube or Twitch videos. For whatever reason, Safari plays them at 360p default while Chrome plays them on 720p.

Also have Firefox installed but thats for a special purpose need. Personally I never use it.

My mid2010 MBP goes crazy now on anything other than Safari.
Luckily Safari has improved quite a bit over the years.

I love Safari. It's beautiful and smooth.

Not in terms of 3rd-party mouse scrolling... And certainly not when playing VLC in the background...

I'd never touched Safari since Mavericks days due to these two problems... Full time Firefox with occasional Chrome for Flash contents...

Chrome works best for me just because of all of the customization and power under the hood. I don't really like the look of Firefox and Safari has barely any extension capability.

I do not use it much but I have Atomic Web on my iPad because it has options to make it appear to whatever site you visit that it is a PC with various browsers. Many sites insist on providing only a Mobile version (often with limited or unhelpful features) if they see that you are a tablet.

Any ideas what I can do on my mid10 MBP?

Safari works very well, nice and smooth...If I have to use Chrome, Firefox, Opera it starts running really hot and sluggish. Chrome is a resource hog for me.

A couple of sites are not working well for me on Safari. Any other browsers someone could recommend?

Safari runs just as smooth as always with VLC running in the background... Just tried it on my MacBook Pro...
