Yikes, never a better advertisement for upgrading from an iPhone 7... I can't tell which is which. ?
Same here. I had to zoom in real close to see the band that is at the top of the Caudabe Sheath before posting.
Look sharp. Were you trying to avoid getting the apple leather? What made you go for it?
Yes, I was trying to avoid it. Funny thing is, the Apple leather case for the iPhone 5S is my favorite case of all time, so I thought this would be an enlarged version. However, after hearing all of the stories of the corners popping out, I was planning on waiting until there was confirmation that the issue was resolved. Plus, I was hoping there would be tiny individual holes for the speakers instead of big cutouts.
Here is my assessment of the Apple leather case so far:
- The leather is still slippery but feels grippier than the Apple leather cases for the 6S Plus, 8S Plus, and XS Max.
- The lightning cord cutout feels better resting on my pinky than the Caudabe Sheath.
- I'm surprised the case doesn't add any thickness. In the past, the Apple leather cases were thicker than the Caudabe Sheath, but that's not the case this year.
- All of the complaints of the cutout for the ring/silent switch being small are true. What makes the switch even more difficult to toggle is that switch practically butts up against the top of the cutout when in the "on" position.
As you can see from the picture, there is more room below the switch than there is at the top (the black you see is the reflection of a camera). I tried squeezing the phone in as much as possible, but it won't go in any more. The instructions tell me to install into the case volume side first, but I installed it from the bottom, so I don't know if that makes a difference.
I don't know if this is any indication of the corners being tight, but I did an unscientific drop test last night. I dropped the phone, face down, from the top of my bed (approximately 36" in height) to the carpet, and the corners stayed in. The manufactured date on the box says 10/20.
