i am currently using the apple clear magsafe case for my 12 pro max though i love my rhinoshield solid suit, but i recently picked up the belkin magsafe car mount and i cant use the rhinoshield with it so. wish rhinoshield would incorperate magsafe into there solid suit line.

Got my Native Union leather case for the iPhone 12 mini today. Really happy with it. It’s incredibly thin and adds hardly any weight or extra width/depth to the phone, but has just enough protection for my needs. The lip around the edge is about 0.5mm high and is nicely rounded, so I don’t experience any issue swiping across the edges of the screen.

The fit is perfect, snaps on and doesn’t feel loose or too tight to take off again

I know some people don’t like an ‘open bottom’ but I prefer it as I find it easier to attach charging cables and it feels nicer to hold. The advantage of the iPhone mini is the there’s less ‘bottom’ actually exposed.

The buttons are inlayed, rather than separate plastic or metal, which looks sleeker, although you get slightly less tactile feedback. At present the power and down volume buttons click perfectly, whereas the up volume requires a slightly harder press, but my experience with these types of buttons in the past is that after a few weeks they loosen up and click perfectly.

The cutout for the mute button is a decent size, making it easy to access (a constant frustration with other leather cases on previous phones).

On the back the cutout for the camera looks great, with no exaggerated plastic bezel. Because the case is so thin, when placed on its back there is about a 0.2mm clearance between the case and camera lens. So the lens would never come into contact if placed on a smooth surface, but some might not find it enough protection (I plan to add thin glass lens protectors anyway)

The leather itself looks amazing, and whilst it feels smooth and a bit slippery at first, this will quickly change as the natural oils from the skin will make it extra grippy. I’ll have to see how well it holds up to knocks abs scratches, and how it ages over time, but for first impressions I couldn’t be happier (particularly as I saved £20 over the Apple one!)
Does the Native Union feel the same as the Apple leather case in terms of thickness?

I'm enjoying the slim profile of the Apple leather case but the quality of the leather is definitely not the same as previous years, or vs the leather wallet. It feels like mostly a plastic case with a thin film of leather like material.

Yikes, I wonder how that will affect the patina proud possibilities. It would be a shame if the new cases don't end up looking like those well loved leather cases for past models.

It feels pretty similar to the Apple leather case on my XS. If anything this case is everso slightly thinner and lighter - so it sounds similar to the current Apple leather cases, although the ultra slim profile is going to offer less protection than other cases. I also considered the ESR leather case which is probably the closest direct match to the Apple case, but I was put off by the raised lip around the edges of the screen

I'm done hunting around for cases.

After all the faffing around, saying I'm coming away from Apple's leather cases, and leather cases in general. I am back to an Apple leather case, in black; classic look.

I really struggle to be happy with how a case fits and feels unless it's one of Apple's.
Same here. I’ve been caseless since Saturday and it’s been “okay”. I do like the feel to a good case and have always liked Apple’s leather cases. This year, I bought and returned the saddle brown. I’m now using the Apple leather sleeve. It’s not my usual style of case, but I’ll endure the growing pains of using something new. So far, I only have my ccw license, driver’s license and debit card in the card pocket.

First impressions of the new Speck Candyshell Pro (Black).

1. Great tactile buttons
2. Size is about the same as the current Otterbox Symmetry
3. Basically the diet Presidio2 Pro
4. Soft-touch finish shows fingerprints easily, similar to the Cyrill Color Brick
5. Good front lip protection
6. Asymmetrical bottom cutouts
7. No sagging near ports
8. Speck branding is very minimal.

I’m with you on the Apple leather cases. I don’t think they’re poorly made, but it does feel a bit skimpy if the leatheriness (that’s a term of art) is a big deal. Many folks do seem content with just the super thin leather surface, and that’s awesome. It is a very well made case overall.

So I just ordered the new Otterbox Defender Pro XT case from Otterbox.com. I must've just become available not too long ago. Should be here this Wednesday. Excited to see if this is on par with the discontinued Pursuit case (my favorite case OB ever made).
I had ordered this on Amazon for $45.17 and just went to look for it and it has vanished from my Amazon order history and I can't find it. Guess they are not selling it for the $45.17 ?

Can anyone locate this on Amazon now?

It’s foreign to me. It’s something new so I’m giving it a chance. It’s useless as far as it having any functionality. But, it kind of suits my needs. One more thing that I don’t have to carry (wallet). It does smell of real leather and not a synthetic blend like the Apple case. The stitching around the boarders is nice and the ends are burnished. Doesn’t look like a hand burnishing though. Interior felt lining is nice and the case is definitely tight. Hopefully it’ll loosen up after a few days. It’s a pain in the ass to get the phone out when checking emails and such. I guess I could rely on my Apple Watch a bit more. It’s a bit bulky on the 12, if you’re using a mini this is the perfect size. Apple could have done a one piece design with an interior stitch and the sleeve would have been way more sleek and minimal.

It’s a cool niche product, if you’re accustomed to sleeves and want a first party accessory this is the product for you.

The addiction in this thread’s disturbing. How can anyone need more than one case?...Are you people even going to use all those cases or is this just an Instagram-for-iphone cases thing? ?
I’m an artist, designer, teacher and human and I understand the appeal of accessories. They are personal and tactile and they have the power to completely change our experience of our tools with just a small investment. The materials and colors of accessories like iPhone cases and Watch bands are sources of joy to me.

The page is gone but I still see the order in my history for the 12 version

Anyway, for something different, I’ve spotted a minimalist, low-cost case on eBay...Very practical for those just wanting scratch protection on the back/corners, with near naked grip on sides & front/rear lay on table design...

I’m up to 15 cases. The addiction is real!

This is perfectly said and puts into words what I’ve never quite been able to articulate.

In regards to phones specifically, I know this is an Apple/iPhone forum, but there are some of us like myself that enjoy using Android as well. I’ve always got both platforms. That being said, while there’s no limit of the types of cases you can find for iPhones, try having some obscure Android or even something not so obscure. You’ll be lucky to find maybe 2 or 3 cases that can change up the feel of your phone. And whether people realize it or not, having a case you really like can completely change how much you like or how much you enjoy using said phone.

For instance, I’ve also got the Pixel 4a 5G and finding anything other than a black TPU case is a struggle. Yet I can find just about anything for my 12 Pro Max.

Cases, watch bands, and other accessories really complete your kit.

Yep I suppose it would take some time to get used to. But it sounds like a high quality product. Guess that’s where they put the resources they pulled from this year’s leather cases lol. Awesome that it’s snug and well crafted. And smells like real leather! I’d be interested to read your longer term impressions. Enjoy the sleeve.

An absolute piece of garbage. I had ordered this briefly to use while I was waiting for the magsafe symmetry to be released and it’s probably one of the worst cases I’ve ever used. The fit was awful, the shape was warped and it just had an all around low quality feel. To make matters worse it came with almost no packaging. It came loose in the standard Amazon packaging bag along with the warranty card. Sent it back the following day.

Very polite, i was more thinking along the lines of, we all get on great here and help each other out so take your negative comments back to the iPhone forums lol.
