Recived replacement (third case) and it same as the second one (on video). I guess they designed it with regular 12 in mind, and not the heavy one. I don't have car mount / stand to compare (since there may be stronger magnets and it's still be stable enough), but tested with Apple Wallet at the store and that wasn't good enough.
Well, I guess I can live with that.

I still haven’t switched to my replacement. The only MagSafe item I have is the charger. Thought about the wallet for some circumstances but not if the magnets still aren’t great. So no rush to switch really, even though I did notice a difference in limited testing

I do like it. I tried the magnets with my MagSafe charger and they're good and strong. Not sure they're strong enough to hold the 12 Pro Max to a dashboard mount, but I'd never try that anyway.

What’s the texture of the case like? The last time I tried a Synthesis it didn’t seem as grippy as the Sheath, like it had a smoother texture. Is that still the case?

It’s been a while since I had a Synthesis (iPhone X, I believe), but this one feels a lot grippier. Maybe not quite as grippy as the Sheath, but pretty close. They have the etching on the sides now and to me the back has a more aggressive, rougher texture than before.

Is the new synthesis completely black on the back, not opaque like the older versions? And how are the buttons?

It’s not as opaque on the back as the older ones, but it still is to some extent. Not enough to show the color of the phone through it (I’ve got Graphite, so no color anyway). The black case is tinted, so if you had one of the brighter colors, you may see it a little, but not enough to notice.

The buttons are fantastic. I had to do the cut mod on all the Sheath cases I have, but the Synthesis buttons are clicky out of the box. One long side of the buttons is open, so that’s why they’re so clicky.

Hey guys

Looking for recommendations on the slimmest iPhone 12 case. I use to have a 0.3mm case for the iPhone 5S and I'm looking for something similar.

I ordered the Ocean Blue for IPhone 12 Pro Max

I've been using a UAG Civilian case since launch but I switched today to the Apple silicone case in Kumquat. I just couldn't take the dreary dark gray anymore so I sacrificed some protection for a more joyful color. (I also bought the Capri Blue.) It's my first time using this Apple case and my first MagSafe case. And the first time I've ever had three cases! This forum has been a horrible influence on me. :)

Wonder if summer colors are about to be released soon - only the Capri blue silicone is showing the “free shipping” option. Cantaloupe, pistachio and amethyst are all showing ’express shipping’ for $8 and no free shipping option.

I’m interested to see some real world pictures of the blue.

I really like this case a lot! It IS pretty grippy. The magnet is strong enough for the wallet; it's much lighter than the Apple Leather case I've had it on the phone since release. I think it's the first Caudabe case I've had (not sure, I've tried so many cases on so many iPhones). So far so good.

As a father of a newborn I use my phone one handed a lot. What’s a good, grippy case for a 12 pro max similar in size to Apple silicone? My silicone ones keep chipping and peeling and it’s driving me nuts so looking for something different. I tried a Spigen Liquid armor but it turned my phone into a bar of soap.

1. Get a PopSockets case.

2. There are lots of silicone case alternatives on Amazon. I got one for my 8+ that's superb quality.

Hate pop sockets. My wife has one and I can’t stand that thing on the back. I’ll see what other silicone cases there are.

Is the Caudabe sheath as grippy as the reviews say? I don’t need a case that sticks like glue, but the Spigen case actually made my phone more difficult to handle one handed than the bare iPhone which is what I’m trying to avoid.

I was actually about to recommend the Sheath. Grippy without being TOO grippy, goes in and out of pockets easily, keeps the square design of the phone, not too thick, pinkie friendly on the bottom…absolutely my favorite case.

Have you tried the magsafe strength?

I have. I use MagSafe to charge every night and the strength of the magnets is good. I said this in another comment the other day, but I can’t comment on whether it would be good for a car mount because I’d never trust a magnetic car mount anyway.

Also, my MagSafe puck is inside a Spigen charging mount (the one that holds the puck for the Apple Watch as well), but when I put the phone down at night, it snaps right into place.

Got mine today. Earlier than I thought. I love it. A little grippier than my last Synthesis (ipX I think). Good color. PB. Magnets as strong as  cases IMHO. It's a keeper for me!
