Let’s take a case like Spigen, the Mag Armor. Seems to be TPU or TPE all over. Doesn’t have a PC back from the look and feel.

Would this make it “not a better case” because you said the better cases use a combo of materials? Or even the Smartish Grip Monkey. Or any Spigen cases cause most seem to be made of not a combination of materials but all TPU or TPE.

Would it be best to have a case with a special formulation of TPU similar to Shock Lite? Does a case brand like Spigen offer a “cheap” TPU which correlates with their pricing model and detriments longevity vs Caudabe who uses a better formation of TPU which correlates with their pricing and maybe better longevity?

On a personal note I prefer more “spongy” sides vs the rigid sides of the Synthesis. So I assume the Shock Lite makes it more rigid TPU.

Totally off topic but why do you keep calling it the “monkey”? Lol

Having crap luck this year. The titanium on my blue PM is scratched down the side.

I have a scratch on top corner from where I dropped it from about knee height. But the side scratch must have been caused by putting on/removing a case as I’ve only dropped it once (and I inspected every inch after I dropped it and they weren’t there).

The scratches are small but they’re all I can see. Thankfully I’ve got apple care+. Just hope they don’t tell me to go away because it’s not damaged enough 😂😂

And I still haven’t found a case I love.

Ok thanks. Using Spigen again the Grip Monkey as an example from experience most of their cases don’t have stiffness. They are supposed to have shock absorption. Since Spigen cases and the Grip Monkey aren’t stiff but offer some level of shock absorption does this make the likes of Spigen not in the better case category?
Spigen has so many different designs that I think it’s hard to generalize about their cases. It does seem that cases engineered to be both relatively slim while also being highly protective are more complex (using multiple materials) and so consequently are more expensive. I can’t think of any cases in the sub $40 range that are reasonably thin while also being super protective. Those less expensive cases tend to be either bulky or not highly protective. It seems to be the old rule of “pick two, you can’t have all three”: slimness, protection, low price.

What brands and models are your examples of cases $40+ that are reasonably thin while being super protective?

Got my Spigen ultra hybrid frost black yesterday. I love this case makes my black Pro Max look stealthy. The back and sides are less slippery than the regular clear. Only shows fingerprints when my hands are greasy otherwise not much.

The ultra hybrid looks good.

Gripmonk in today and Amazon sent me a used case with white chalky fingerprints all over it :( Couple baby wipes and 10 minutes later got it pretty well cleaned up.

I’m right around that ballpark with you I’m sure. I haven’t even counted, not sure I want to. My Frosted just arrived today. The expedited shipping is worth it, with the BF sale, it made it normal price and got it in 2-3 days.

I see what you guys were saying about the sides. I find them not even half as grippy, but still love the case. Love that I get that same fit as the Gen 5 without the fingerprints… going to run it for a few days and then give my full thoughts.
The black looks amazing!! I got blue titanium for mine to match my blue titanium 15PM, looks amazing!

Civilian looks like it checks a lot of my boxes too.
I’ve had one in the cart for a while now. They’re currently marked down to $45 for the 15PM version. I’m mostly curious to see if their Action button is OK. I may go ahead and order one today.

I like the Olive drab. No markdowns for 15pro’s.

The olive is nice but I found that the orange bumpers will discolor pretty quickly if you carry the phone in a denim pocket. I’ll probably go for my usual basic black.
