I noticed that this case has a lanyard hole. I was looking at a Torras case that also had lanyard holes which I really dislike. Don't they allow dust to get under the case? Between the lanyard holes and the split buttons, how do you keep dust and grime off of the phone?

I’m curious about the Spigen cases being discussed. Many years ago when they first came out the quality was competitive with other top brands, but at one point they went down market and cheapened their case line significantly in both price and quality. After that I quit buying their cases and haven’t since. For those who have their recent cases, have they improved recently or has the quality been the same over the last 5+ years? My recollection is that when they lowered their prices their cases became much more flimsy and cheaply constructed.

I recently bought a Spigen Thin Fit 15 Pro case from Amazon for 19 dollars. This is my first Spigen case, so I can't compare it to what they were making 5 years ago. I can say that it feels very solid, and for what I payed for it I am quite happy.

It does feel perhaps a bit cheap in some ways. There are some seam marks in the TPU material around the corners that I can feel, though just barely. There's no fancy microfiber inner lining or anything. The case doesn't have Magsafe, though I don't use Magsafe so that was a non-issue for me (and in any case Spigen does have Magsafe cases that are also pretty cheap). But it seems well put together, fits nicely without being hard to remove (something that I consider to be important), and feels really nice in the hand. I basically bought it because my Apple Silicone case was a super dust magnet. The Thin Fit is better in that regard (as is to be expected) and I think the materials and design make it feel better to hold. I'm not going to drop it on purpose, and I doubt it would hold up to something like a Mous in a torture test, but it doesn't feel like I'm sacrificing much in terms of protection. The buttons also feel just about as good as those on the Apple case.

Maybe Spigen did cheapen their cases - as aforementioned, I don't really have any points of comparison - but hey, this was a cheap case. I didn't have to pay much for it, and for the price I think it's pretty good.

As a side note, I also got one of their screen protectors. The installation was perfect and it feels really nice, but it is a bit of a dust magnet around the edges so there's definitely some room for improvement with that.

Thanks for your thorough reply, much appreciated. Your description seems to match my experience with their cases when they changed their approach; they went from producing relatively expensive, high quality cases to primarily producing budget cases with reasonable quality for the price (the Enzo cases being the exception). I should just buy a Thin Fit to check it out.

PS - I’ve been using Spigen screen protectors forever and have one on my 15PM as I’m typing this.

Case scratches like crazy sadly!
What colour case and iPhone is that? It does look good though!

I’m using this type of clear cases since iPhone 12 era. Never ever had a single scratch!
As I mentioned in my post it’s iPhone 15 Pro NaTi with the grey Otterbox Lumen.

Just came in, the most beautiful clear case (at least in my eyes) for the NaTi!!

Otterbox Lumen! Thanks thatappleguytoday for the recommendation!!

Looks nice.

Wonder how close the blue is the Blue Ti?

I really like my Mag Armor. I don’t think it’s cheaply constructed. I didn’t get it because it was $20, I got it because I saw a video review and liked the chevron design in the back and the beveled edges.

If you want to call it a budget case that’s cool. I feel that the Mag Armor in particular is a solid $20 - $25 case which still puts it in the budget range.

Spigen seems to always have 50%’ish off of their MSRP on Amazon which brings the Mag Armor down to $20.

The Mag Armor retails for $45. No way I would pay $45. But I also wouldn’t have paid full retail for the Caudabe Synthesis at $41. With discounts I paid $30 and some very small change which puts it in budget pricing.

Take the Spigen Enzo at $40. Which you said was an exception. Would you consider this a cheap budget flimsy case because it’s $30 less than the Pitaka? Except for some minor differences why would someone pay $70 for a Pitaka when they can get the Enzo for $40?

The Enzo Pitaka comparison is sort of the same comparison on the other side of the coin.

I paid $20 for the Mag Armor which for me exceeds not by much what the value of the case is. In the same way that I paid $30 for the Synthesis which for me matches what the case is really worth. Would I consider the Synthesis a better case than the Mag Armor? Yes and the price reflects it being $10 more but I don’t think the Synthesis is a $20 more case($40) than the Mag Armor.

Don’t know if you remember the good ole Magpul Field case my go too for many years. That case was always cheap in $ but it was the best value for your money in a case IMO.

Get the Mag Armor to try out because I think it has some more going on with it than the thin fit to check out quality based on price IMO.

Since the Mag is so ez to take off and put on, once a day I take it out and quickly wipe my phone and around the case when I’m not at work. When I’m at work I have access to an air compressor with a hose and I blow it out daily. I don’t find that much gets inside though.

I feel like a case that needs to be removed daily so the phone can be cleaned because it allows dust and dirt in disqualifies it as a daily driver for me. Even if the case is easy to take on and off. Appreciate the reply though.

Even if the Mag Armor didn’t have the lanyard holes or any other case and wasn’t ez to take on and off, I still take my iPhone out daily and give it a quick wipe and a quick wipe of the inside of the case. And I would also blow out the port and grills out daily.

When I had the Synthesis which was extremely hard to get off, I did the above daily.

The Civilian is reasonably thin and is rated to 20 feet. It’s also the only case they currently make that has a button cover for the Action button.
Is the Civillian with action button for 15 Pro available now?

All the stock pics on Amazon show no action button. And listed as “coming soon” for all colors for 15 Pro on uag.com. Full availability for 15 Pro Max. Hmmm…

Was thinking this morning. How much drop protection do I need? You see a these Mous videos throwing off from a hot air balloon or from bucket truck. Even when I was doing physical work and at higher heights, I can’t remember dropping my phone more than chest height? For me I would need 6 ft drop protection to be safe.

Anyone else?

Mous case has the best buttons ever. Very clicky.
Clicky as Apple Original leather case.
Only difference is Mous case has plastic buttons and Apple leather/finewoven case has metal buttons.
I wish more 3rd party manufacturers made floating buttons.

That green looks sick.

When you’re referring to floating button do you mean non air slits?

Just so you know if you start calling it the green banana when people search this forum that search won’t come up. The same when I call it the Munky. Just saying 😊. Couple people were busting my b*lls.

That makes sense. The thing is, on Reddit and elsewhere you see reports of phones cracking from a few feet in even highly protective cases like the Limitless, Defender, and Monarch. Luck of how and where it lands seems to play a pretty big part in the outcome of even small drops. I’m not sure if that’s an argument for or against minimal cases or protective cases? Personally, I look for cases that are on the protective side but also reasonably thin and not uncomfortable to hold.

The other thing to consider is the validity of manufacturers’ drop test ratings. There really is no accountability and these companies can make whatever claims they’d like without any published data to back it up. That’s why I like drop tests by third party reviewers, though those are almost never controlled so not 100% valid either.

I’ve never owned a Mous case, but the best buttons I’ve ever had on a case as far as being super clicky and the right amount of firmness is on the Torras ShieldMate (TORRAS Ostand ShieldMate for iPhone 15 Pro Case with Airshoes-Like Bumper, Military Grade Drop Protection, Compatible with MagSafe, Build-in Stand & Ring Holder Case for iPhone 15 Pro Phone Case Blue https://a.co/d/4nKRIAL). The buttons stick out a bit farther than usual on most cases, but they are metal (floating style, removable) and are fantastic. So much so that despite the back being a smudge magnet, I have kept running this case as my daily despite trying probably a dozen others. The fit is also outstanding, with hardly any pull anywhere on the front lip except the slightest bit around the buttons and charging port. It has what some would consider to be gimmicky air cushioning around the borders, but that along with the rounded sides makes it a great hand feel. The only other minor complaints would be that the roundness does add some bulk, the weight (around 51 grams) is more than I’d like ideally and I feel like it’s overpriced at $50 retail on Amazon. It was on sale for BF/CM, so I was able to return and get it for around $38, so not going to complain too much at that price. Funny thing is that I found almost the exact same case from a brand called Lamicall (Lamicall Magnetic Phone Case for iPhone 15 Pro, for MagSafe - [18 FT Mil-Grade Drop Protection] Phone Case with Air Bumpers and Raised Edges, Shockproof Case for iPhone 15 Pro Phone Case, Black https://a.co/d/hqzP6zK) for much less ($13 after 50% off promo on Amazon). It must be one of those deals where the same case is made in a factory and sold by multiple brands. It only comes in one color (black) versus the black, blue, and gray of the Torras. Also, the MagSafe ring on the back is embedded in the case and doesn’t double as a stand but I don’t really use it that often and I don’t like that it pulls away a bit when taking it off a MagSafe charger. I’m hoping this at least means it will save 5-10 grams of weight.

Also, just saw that Amazon currently has the Apple silicone cases for $37.49 for several colors in both Pro and Pro Max sizes. Hoping the Winter Blue for the regular Pro eventually gets the same discount as it’s still $50 at the moment).
