I have the haptic keyboard/typing thing on and in certain cases like this it’s hardly noticeable. I don’t personally think it’s a big deal though

I agree a case like the Sheath definitely causes the haptics to be muffled, but part of this is on Apple. They FINALLY added haptics to the keyboard, but of course made it a binary choice (on/off), with no ability to adjust the strength of the haptics.

No matter what type of case I use on my Pixel 8 Pro, I can feel the keyboard haptics because I can actually adjust the strength. On my 13 Pro Max and now my 15 Pro Max, I can barely feel them, even without a case.

I know Apple isn’t into giving users much in the way of choices, but good grief, let us decide how hard our phone vibrates.

I find it bizarre and comical how much obsessing and grief there is over the “condom ring” on the Sheath and yet it is still held in higher regard, around here, than my condom ringless, half the price, Smartish Gripmunk.

Because the Sheath fits better (tighter) and the back of the Gripmunk is way too slick.

Not saying the Gripmunk is a bad case, far from it. But once I tried it, I knew I’d never run it over the Sheath.

Also, people can agree to disagree, but the c-ring on the back doesn’t bother me in the least. Of course it shouldn’t happen, but the case is so good otherwise (for me) that I just don’t care.

im really liking it i havent taken it off
That’s great! I prefer minimalist cases and really warmed up to it. How is it holding up so far?

Per Arc’s specs:

“Aluminum 7075-T6 with high-end anti-scratch coatings.”

I wonder if you can see under the coating if there are nicks or scratches?

There was a 15% sale in December, but that’s long gone 😞

Being smoother on the back does it affect over all grip though?
Can confirm the Crystal has better grip than the Frosted. Sides and back since both are different materials compared to the Frosted. The clear PC on the back has more grip than the frosted since that's just the nature of the material. The downside is, you will see smudges and fingerprints compared to the frosted. Rubber is softer on the sides and glossy so that adds more grip, which is what really makes the difference when holding it compared to the Frosted.

Not by everyone! I have both and use the Gripmunk much more than the Sheath. Factoring in the price I always recommend the Gripmunk to people over the Sheath.

Weird thing about my Caudabe Sheath - got the revised edition late December and have started to see a MagSafe circle show up at the back. Very early but visible. Anyone else having this issue with the revised edition too? Have emailed them but their support has massively degraded over the years and takes them ages to respond.
UPDATE: Caudabe is happy to send out a replacement, I am based in the UAE so might take a while to reach. Hopefully the replacement case isn't a faulty one too.

Which fits tighter? The Aspen or RL?
Tighter fit - aspen
Better buttons - aspen
Better camera ring - ryan
Better grip -Ryan
Better smell - Ryan

Hard to pick a favorite between the two. They are both good. I’d price them the same tho. The Ryan should not be more expensive.

Thanks. I had a RL and liked it a ton. It was a bit loose on one of the corners. Smell and grip were great. When you talk about grip is it usable or do you find it too slippery on the Andar?

Just for kicks I created a spreadsheet to rate the cases in my current collection. I used five criteria and assigned each case a value of 1 through 8, with lower values being better. The PR Gen 5 came out on top, the Apple FW at the bottom.

Disclaimer: This is all highly subjective; I don’t expect anyone to agree with the overall rankings or the individual category rankings. If your case placed near the bottom, please don’t take it as a personal affront. The overall rankings don’t even perfectly line up with my own preferences.

I like this ranking spreadsheet you set up, maybe I'll have to give it a go with my own collection of cases, since I haven't tried half of the cases on your list.;)
