Pitaka MagEZ 5 Sunset

Been on a lightweight case kick lately and this one fits the bill perfectly for me

That’s their best color scheme in years.

Following up on my case rating spreadsheet from yesterday, I added two categories: “weight” and “comfort”. The addition of these two attributes shuffled the overall ratings quite a lot! I also removed the Apple FW since mine is clearly defective so is not a representative sample.

I used seven criteria and assigned each case a value of 1 through 7 for that attribute (7 cases rated best to worst in each column), with lower values being better. The Pitaka Pro came out on top, followed by the Phone Rebel Gen 5 and Caudabe Sheath. The Otterbox Symmetry landed at the bottom.

Disclaimer: This is all highly subjective (other than weight). I don’t expect anyone to agree with the overall rankings or the individual category rankings. If your case placed near the bottom, please don’t take it as a personal affront. The overall rankings don’t even perfectly line up with my own preferences.

Ok looks like you changed your ratings too per category for each case from yesterday. By changing from scale 1-8 to scale 1-7 makes a difference.

Right. The scale is based upon the number of cases.
What I meant was since it’s now a scale 1-7 there are some that should have been ticked down 1.

For instance if previously fit was a 3 based on a scale 1-8 shouldn’t it now be a 2 or even a 2.5(if you want to get concise) based on a scale of 1-7?

Edit: ok you’re basing it on a number of cases. Other poster had 10 cases and still used your 1-8 scale. Why not just use a scale 1-10 doesn’t matter number of cases? Because if others are going to post a spreadsheet they will most likely won’t have same # of cases.

Not necessarily, it depends upon where the FineWoven resided in each category. If it was number 1 in a category then every case below it shifts, but if it was number 8 then none shift.

Returned it today. I don’t think the PR cases are my type of cases so sticking with the leather case and silicone case.
Oh wow I really thought you were going to keep it.

What makes PR cases not your type of case?

I guess since i was so used to leather cases it was hard adjusting to the PR Cases.
Yea I hear you I like simple cases with no bells and whistles like the Apple silicone, Sheath and leather.

Have you tried the Sheath? That might be up your alley.

No haven’t tried the sheath. I had a caudabe case years ago it was this ultra thin case for the iPhone 6s Plus.

Does the back scratch easy?
doesn't look like it. I wiped it off and looked at it under light and couldn't find any scratches at all. also hit it on the back with a plastic body pen, wiped away leaving no permanent marks.

to qualify my answer

- I carry my phone by itself in my left front pocket
- raised corners help with the back not touching surfaces
- I also have the ohsnap4 on it currently, elevating it in the center as well
