Which is surprising. Because the second Gen 12.9 weighs 1.49 Pounds and actually has larger batteries (41 Watt) Compared to the first Gen 12.9 Pro (38.5 battery Watt) weighing in at 1.57 pounds.

Maybe it's because my old 12.9 was cellular and my new one is wifi only?

I have all 3, out of the options on the poll it would be the 10'

The 12 for me is only really usable on a desktop. I'd go further, I actually struggle see the point of the 12 or a workflow where it would make sense other than drawing. As soon as I go big I'm reaching for a laptop which defeats the device totally.

I have used all 3 too, and agree on the 10.5 as the 'best'. But as usual, all depends on personal use.

These points on laptop over iPad 12" I also agree with as is still a better experience. The 12" is great for drawings which was my use for it, however having shifted to the 10" now I only miss the screen size on occasion.

The 12 is totally a desktop tool for me and I rarely carried it around. a 13" MBP is just as portable and far more useful!

It was replaced with the iPP 10.5. That extre real estate allowed for a full size on-screen keyboard and full size ASK.
Yeah I was being facetious. I do love my 9.7, though. Best device I’ve ever owned.

I think iOS 11 will make the 12.9 shine when it comes out. So on that alone, 12.9 for me

I went from 1st gen 12.9 to 10.5 IPP to 12.9 2nd gen to now back to 10.5 IPP. (lol)

In the end, I prefer the portability of the 10.5. I noticed I had my ipad 12.9 mostly on my desk etc. It's also awkward to type on while holding it up. It is better to type on with or without the ASK.

I first didn't understand when people claimed it to be 'unwieldly' but I get it now. It is not heavy overall but when you hold it on one end in landscape or bottom right grip while in portrait orientation, it makes it top-heavy. Imagine having to type a URL or some text while holding it one hand. If I had to set it down and use the screen keyboard or the ASK, then I am using it more like a laptop.

Another thing that I noticed is that while the 12.9 is better experience in split screen mode, I rarely did split screen. 10.5's split screen is good enough for me. I don't find the split window too small. It's basically bigger than an iphone 7 plus screen.

I love my 12.9 and the smart keyboard. I really like that I can write and see the equivalent of a 8x11 page in front of me. And the Apple pencil is the best!

I am finding the same. I have the magic keyboard instead though which I used last night to help with homework and will take to work and for work travel. I do use the split screen quite a bit and am using the full screen and split screen for taking notes depending on what I am doing. Love playing the piano with my sheet music too and using the pencil a lot.

Did the switch from 10.5 to 12.9, never go back...the screen look much better to me. The 10.5 was too yellowish.

12.9 definitely.

I am officially using it as a laptop replacement. I am a graphic artist. I also do hard core video editing. But I also use it as just a really portable device which has replaced everything I did on the MBP 13". Since my MBP was a mid 2012 model, the new IPP actually outperforms it processor wise anyway.

As for size.... I am 5'2" tall with small hands. I am female. I have absolutely NOT ONE SINGLE issue with the weight or size of the 12.9" IPP. I take it to bed with me, I hold it on the sofa to surf while watching TV, I take it to Starbucks. I have a stand I use for hardcore typing, along with the BT Apple Magic keyboard. Then it feels like a mini iMac. I can have two apps side by side and they are the FULL apps, and not the phone apps. On the 10" one, the side by side still punts the apps into phone mode. The larger screen also allows for 16:9 movies etc to still be large enough to look awesome. Also, the speakers on the 12.9" are unmatched by the 9.7 or 10.5 versions.

I really don't understand how people (mostly big burly guys who have much larger hands than I do) somehow think the 12.9" IPP is so huge to handle. LOL. In reality we are talking about 2" diagonal difference, that's it!
I know if we were speaking about anything else, 2" more would not be a problem to handle would it?? Haha

Funny, it looked yellowish to me too. I just assumed it was something in to my eye. Glad I'm not alone.
Do you have True Tone enabled?

I really like the 12.9 but it is just too unwieldy for my use. Went with the 10.5 and love it.
Yeah, holding it and traveling killed the idea for me having the 12.9" Especially since I typically travel with a laptop and a tablet. Its funny, before I bought a 12.9, I'd go into the apple store and really wished I bought one, so I did, started using it, and found it too ungainly to hold and use. It was great on my desk but I don't use my iPad that way. I tend to hold it, and while books on it were huge and expansive holding it was getting hold.

I returned the 12.9 and got a 10.5 and couldn't be happier, now when I go into the apple store, the 12.9s look huge and too big :)

One size doesn't fit all, and for me, the 10.5 represents the perfect size for my needs

I was sorely tempted by the 12.9... but went with the 10.5 on portability and price when I figured I wanted max storage plus pencil, keyboard, AppleCare+. Maybe the "portability" was more like "I need the accessories and it's all adding up to too much." That's possible, but I'm satisifed with the 10.5 for sure.

10.5 for me. Portability is the biggest factor--if I want a big display I use my MacBook.

That was ultimately one of the major factors for my choosing the 10.5 Holdability is the other, I tend to use my iPad in my hands as opposed to having it on a desk or even on my lap.

Yeah, this. I have a 13" MBP and a nicely upgraded 2009 MacBook as a spare, and was pretty sure I'd end up using the 12.9 on a desk, so while laptop is still king computer in my place, the 10.5 iPad Pro ended up making more sense for a tablet for me.

If I don't like the next few rounds of laptops, though (which is the case for me right now) then I hope enough people will have gone for the 12.9 iPad Pro in the meantime that Apple still makes them. :D

Bottom line I am not Apple's favorite type of consumer: "I don't want it but I want you to keep making it in case I change my mind."

Still 12.9" for me, if I wind up using it for more than just drawing, who knows.

If I ever replace this 12.9" iPP (which already has battery deterioration at 6 months - YAY!), it will be when they are marked down significantly. If I pay $1k or more for an Apple product now, it will be for a Mac.

Glad to see folks are enjoying the 10.5". I haven't had the best of luck with the 9.7" size iPads, so the 12.9" felt like the better choice (except for the Smart Keyboard.)

Just upgraded from the Air 2 to a 256GB LTE 10.5 and am real happy with it. I have a Dell XPS 13 9350 laptop with QHD display so I had no desire for the larger iPP.

The 10.5 inch because it’s not too big. If. I had the 12.9 Pro the only place I could use it would be on a desk. I find the 10.5 not too big for couch use and I have taken it on my commute. Whilst going forward I will be using the iPad mini 4 I’ve just purchased for commuting the 10.5 can do it in a pinch. I wouldn’t even bother with the 12.9. Likewise I took my 10.5 Pro on vacation but I would have left a 12.9 at home.

Love my 12.9 - my older eyes have thanked me every time I use it instead of my wife’s 10.5. Otherwise, I may have just purchased a 10.5 for myself too.

I prefer the 10.5 mainly because the 12.9 is to big to carry with me

I just went from a 12.9 first gen to a 10.5 and glad I did. Portability is much better for me. Only thing I’m getting used to is the smaller Smart Keyboard. This is so much lighter.
