Not a true TV "series", but last night, I watched "The Green River Killer: Mind of a Monster", and boy, did it hit home! We actually live up in that area. In fact, after we moved to our town home in 2005, it is only about a mile or so from the Green River. I actually recognize a lot of those scenes in the documentary, especially Kenworth Trucking. And that first bridge shown in the documentary, my wife and I have walked over it MANY times!

Here is a link to it, and one can watch on line:

What it also inspired me to do was to start watching, again, the excellent Netflix series: Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes. He is also from an area close to where we used to live. Previously, I re-watched another excellent Netflix series with a "similar" there: Manhunt: Unabomber.

And I just saw this:

Talk about a twist of irony!

I may need to watch it just to see how it meshes with my memory. I graduated High School in 1978 (the killings started in early 80s) just West of Sea-Tac airport (Burien, WA) and was back during the Summers while I attended WSU. He wasn't caught until after I went to Upstate NY for graduate school.

I myself was living in Federal Way for all he time Ridgway committed those crimes, and also while Ted Bundy was doing his. Moved to Kent on 2005, and have walked along the Green River numerous times.

Looking for a good horror show to start binging on tonight. Thinking of starting Locke & Key. Is it good? Yay or nay?

I read it's decent, I'm currently reading the comics (digital via Hoopla), but if I were recommending a horror series, these come to mind:

Haunting of Hill House
Channel Zero (new story each season)
The Terror (specifically Season 1, spectacular)
Castle Rock (absolutely if you're fan of S. King)
Dark (dub'ed so might be a bit "uncanny valley", but excellent)
Bates Motel

... and that kind of assumes you don't want anything too campy / silly (though those can be fun too), i.e., American Horror Story, Supernatural , What We Do in the Shadows ...

Am watching Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, but plan on watching Chernobyl and The China Syndrome (technically not a TV series, but "connected" with Chernobyl). Meanwhile, Season 5 of Better Call Saul premieres this Sunday. A definite challenge to try and keep up with all them!

Oh, and next month, on Friday, March 27th, Season 3 of Ozark will be on Netflix. And on Sunday, April 14th, Season 4 of Fargo will premiere on FX.

Still waiting for Season 3 of Cobra Kai, but all indications are that it will be on either in April or May.

Chernobyl was one I enjoyed, definitely recommend it. I just finished watching Narcos Mexico's 2nd season. Did it seems short or was it just me? Now that I think of it, they never seem long enough. I enjoyed it.

Haunting of Hill House I've already watched, waiting eagerly for season 2!
Channel Zero and The Terror I've never heard of, need to see where they're available!
Castle Rock I've actually heard of, just had forgotten about it. Definitely a fan of King's, so thanks for the reminder!
Dark is probably my favorite Netflix show to date (the German original track being one of the reasons, helps me keep my German in check!), bring on season 3!
Bates Motel I need to check out!

Speaking of the campy ones you mentioned, AHS was fun for a while, but the last two seasons haven't really reeled me in like some of the previous ones, and I'm probably the only one ever to think the Hotel season is probably the best one of the bunch. Some of the songs they used in that season were just phenomenal, and I also liked the visuals a lot.

If What We Do in the Shadows is based on the brilliant film of the same name, I definitely need to check it out as soon as possible!

So thanks a bunch, I think I'm good for a while!

Better Things, 3 episodes, somewhere around season 2 or 3. Often funny, but also sad and pathetic.

Brooklin Nine-Nine. Zany, over the top wackiness.

Well, we were inadvertently forced to binge watch "Star Trek: Discovery" season 2 by Netflix. We had them in our DVD queue spaced out with other movies and the morons at Netflix decided that they would just send us Star Trek DVDs, one after the other, instead of in the order I had requested them. Kind of off pissing. Regardless, we really enjoyed season 2 and can hardly wait for the 3rd season to be released on streaming service. It was really good Trek and went a long way to develop and stay true to the original Star Trek series. They paid a great deal of attention to the canon and history and, as a fan, I really appreciated that.

Just to add a little extra detail to hopefully help with your decision ...

Channel Zero was on SyFy, it's lower budget but they still do a solid job - it's an anthology (per season) the concept is based on Creepy Pasta, for those not ITK, these are stories shared on the 'net where people contribute experiences, but it's all fiction, it's like social/collaborative story telling. Anyway, each of the seasons are based on one of the more popular creepy pastas. The narratives can get a little abstract, kind of go on and off the rails, but the general concept is usually pretty creepy, and they're well shot and acted.

The Terror (USA Network), Season 1, was based on the Dan Simmons novel (of the same name), it's about the 1845 Franklin Expedition, to search for the Northwest Passage, the name comes from the two ships, HMS Erebus and HMS Terror - though the latter takes on a whole different meaning. It's a fictionalized account, of an actual historical event (the ships, their disappeared, etc.), and it tips into some less-than-natural encounters.

Season 2, takes places in a WWII Japanese internment camp, it's based on the George Takai graphic novel (and his real world experiences), again, real historical events that are fictionalized and take a dark, supernatural turn.

Castle Rock (Hulu original) is really interesting, as it uses King characters, places, themes, but tells different stories with them, so it's really fun picking out all the "easter eggs". :p

Did the Last Podcast of the Left cover some of these as well..? I seem to remember there being a few episodes about pasta and whatnot, before they went and became a Spotify exclusive. In any case, thanks a bunch!

Just a reminder: Season 5 of Better Call Saul premieres tonight, with Episode 2 being broadcast tomorrow evening.

Also, season 4 of Fargo certainly looks fascinating, based on the trailers I have been watching. And of course, season 3 of Ozark will arrive on Netflix in about 4 weeks.

Well, son of a gun, I only recently started listening to that Pod, and didn't realize it had stoped being an open podcast source!

BTW, I've been listening to this one, it's super fun, 2 people into horror films, get a 3rd person who doesn't normally watch, to review one (that he's watching for the first time):

Yeah it came as a surprise for me as well. Didn't have time to listen to a lot of episodes, and I was still feeling it out because there were things that didn't really click for me, but that's all pretty much moot now.

I'll have to check out your suggestion, thanks for that!

Well, I watched Episode 1 of the new season of Better Call Saul, and as expected, very entertaining! I really like they way they (for now) keep separate the bizarre things Saul Goodman (aka James McGill) does, Mike Ehramantraut (portrayed so well by Jonathan Banks) and his jobs, and the dealings of the Mexican Cartel. Episode 2 airs tonight.
