Just finished Jessica Jones season two on Netflix. In my opinion, it went two episodes too long and the main villain, who turns out not to be such a villain was no where near the level of season one's bad guy! I actually like the side plot with the lawyer better than the main. I could see a show with just her in it as she moves from case to case!

Four episodes in so far..pretty entertaining! Wasn't sure about watching it since the first season really annoyed me but quite happy I gave it a chance.
Case files would be a nice idea actually. Not one case per episode since that formual gets boring fast imho but a nice mash-up would be great and keeps it a bit unpredictable.

Right now going through 'Britbox' to find some programing for Friday night viewing. They do have a large selection to choose from.

Just binged the entire first season of Netflix's "Seven Seconds." It was pretty good.

Started Altered Carbon but the Mrs didn't enjoy it so we stopped (I really liked it).

Now we're on Startup on Amazon Prime. Most of the way through S1 - enjoying it a lot.

Can't wait for this. Love this show and every season has been getting better and better IMHO.
I've been meaning to watch it for about a month now. Someone brought up Harry Bosch in the book thread and I made the connection then. I've seen part of one episode relating to arson. Do I need to read the novels to appreciate the show? The last cop related show I can recall watching outside of NCIS was Castle. Though that's more of a dramedy.

That I can't tell you as I have not read the books, but I do know they are related to the books, maybe by character name only? But the show as a whole stands on it's own and to me it is very enjoyable and very entertaining. Lots of little twists and turns.

Castle, I loved that show, but then again, I pretty much love anything Nathan does.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. I had no idea who Fillon was until I saw the first episode. Though, we watched the show years after it began airing. I remember skipping it when it first aired because I figured it was some science fiction or high fantasy show based on the name alone.

Huge Fillian fan since Firefly. However, once the detectives couldn't solve a single crime without the writer there, well...

lost me.

The writing was pretty good, I loved when he got together with his writer's bunch, populated by real mystery writers, liked all the characters, but...

I was tempted to buy the book referenced in the show and read "page 293" or whatever it was but just didn't get around to it.

You and me both! The interaction between the writers was great and I wish they did more. Like you said, towards the end, they really stopped doing that and well...

The only episode we skipped was the time travel one. Not the one related to the jewelry owned by the barkeep stolen from a murdered gangster decades before. The alternate reality (I think that's the correct term) episode where Rick knows he's in another universe but no one believes him.

One of the most memorably episodes was Rick coming face to face with the guy who killed the woman in the forest. That was a fairly creepy episode for such a fun show.

It was a good series. We had a lot of fun watching all the Two and a Half Men episodes up until December 2010 because we'd only caught a few episodes here and there since it began airing. You either like 2.5 Men or you don't. There seems to be no middle. I'm fairly picky with television series, but we're really liking Life in Pieces with Tom Hanks' kid. It's a riot.

Loved 2 and half men, upto the point where Charlie was no more. Do we really think Charlie was acting lol.

Regarding Castle, there where some really good episodes. We didn't catch it when it was running, we started watching the reruns on one of the cable networks and it happen to come on at a convenient time for us.

It's been a while since I watched The Wire, so yesterday evening the thought occured to me that I would like to watch a couple of episodes again. "Just to be sure I should start with episode 1, and then skip along without sacrificing too much time to a show that I can pretty much remember the twists and turns of."

Yeah that didn't work out that well, so I'm currently binging The Wire. From start to finish.

Just as good as I remembered. On the other hand, though, I am currently watching the remastered edition (in 16:9), so the case could be made that this is something I haven't seen before..

One of my favorite shows of all time! I might have to re-watch, or should I say watch them again for the first time due to the remastering!

Yeah, it really is one of the greats. Reading about it online, it's no surprise that there are people who are taking the 4:3 -> 16:9 HD conversion quite passionately (and not always in a good way, but David Simon himself wrote that while the new version is not the "show" they originally made, it still has enough merit to exist), and I do see the point in what they are saying. The framing of scenes obviously has changed some, and the aspect ratio of the original version did lend the show a more "authentic" feeling, but in general I'm personally very happy with the new version. It looks great, sounds great and the things that made the show what it is, the writing and acting, are obviously still there.

Just superb stuff.

That's the reason why I'm not really keen on watching the remaster despite The Wire being my no1 show ever paired with Twin Peaks. I have no problems with grainy pictures per se so that may help.

I could see myself buying a remaster with the original aspect ratio though.

Amazing show though!

Same here! Hell, a couple of days ago I watched a very worn out, old and generally wonky copy of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on VHS. Not because I don't have a better version (I have three), but because the grain and general lo-fi feeling belong to the movie. Or are at least important to how I remember first seeing the movie a long time ago. So there's a place and time for both HD and (barely even) SD in my book.

Other than that, as far as TV shows go, you have great taste!

Oh, a fellow TCM enthusiast! *does the chainsaw dance*

OT but I just recently watched TCM 2 and I think the more often I watch it the better it gets. Note that I never really disliked it either and the first one is still the best by far. Haven't watched the remakes though and probably never will. Except IV (or else, forgot. Was/is called Leatherface and was soso, not an utterly shabby quick cashgrab).

Cheers

The classic Toby Hooper version of TCM is one of my favorites. I agree with watching in low quality, it actually ads to the movie if you ask me. I went to a showing a few years ago and they had one of the old tape reels of the movie (it was an indi house showing) and man was it good. The grain, the dust, the over all "low" quality of the film added that much to it. The original. The classic. Great movie!

Agree with everything you said. It's been a while since I last saw TCM2, but I do remember it being wildly entertaining! I have one of the newer ones (with Jessica Biel) on Blu Ray, but although gory, it just doesn't have the feeling of the original ones, if that makes sense.

Exactly. You can just smell the sweat, rot, dust and well, terror of the whole situation. An immersive experience for sure! Add to that the great directing by Hooper, and it's not hard to understand the classic status of the film. It's always refreshing to notice how little blood is actually shown on screen (when you consider the reputation of the film and many of the imitations that followed), and how much of the gore and actual violence happens in the viewers mind.

Agreed, when I have mentioned the film to folks, I usually hear, that is one bloody and gory movie! There is so little blood in it when you consider some of the deaths that occur throughout the film.
