Seriously, I left home around 1:00PM EST, send my kid to daycare afternoon section, came back 20 minutes later. iOS 18 announcement is already done.

Good thing that iOS 18 is so underwhelming, my iPhone XS gets one more years of support. That is bonus for me.

I’m happy about RCS and the ability to freely arrange/hide apps, but overall it was a rather bland update imo. Of course people will nut over all the AI stuff, but I personally couldn’t care less.

AI looks interesting... skeptical that Apple can get it done... seems to be a pretty ambitious undertaking.

Beyond the AI thing, it's another WWDC full of MEH.

Depends, they make it sound like their AI is only available for iPhone 15 Pro and later, and those with M chips...

Be more impressed if iPadOS got iPhone mirroring
They technically did not deny this. If iPhone mirroring isn’t available on iPadOS, though, I will be disappointed.

Really hoping that it’s just the on-device stuff that’s so limited. Cloud-based interactions should be available on all supported devices, imo.

It's like deja vu! The same posts every year always show up 😛
You could create a thread „meeeeh, so unimpressed by iOS 19 announcement today, booohohohoooo“ now and lift it up in a year from now and many will agree in June 2025.
Maybe I‘ll do that later. 🤔

Seriously, what are you guys expecting? iOS 18 to wipe your a***es?
What are the groundbreaking, world trembling new features you are missing?

Is Android reinventing the wheel every year again? If so, maybe it’s time to switch. I don’t know.

Yep. Spend 30 minutes touting to everyone how amazing and smart their phones will become, but lock out the vast majority of your customers from actually being able to use it.
I am not as deep into Apple history with the iPhone, but have they ever gated a major new feature this tightly. Such that only the current top tier iPhones have access.

We’ll have to wait until the fall to see if they expand it or keep it gated to the Pro devices.

I’m trying to remember how underwhelmed we all were last year when they announced iOS 17 only to find out later they left a lot out of the keynote. And with all this AI stuff they probably didn’t have time to cover lots of stuff….. I hope.

Being able to place icons anywhere is massive, bummed we didn’t get more though, was really hoping for new icons, a ui refresh, new notifications, etc.

Hoping we can finally remove the home bar, doubt it, but it would be nice.

There was quite a lot in there, plus there's always a ton of stuff that we discover/get more exposure later on, nearer the release.

Also, need to bear in mind, that WWDC is like a trailer for what coming up for this major release of the OS's, as some things are exposed now, so developers, etc can start to build things, to support features coming later

Nope, and that's the thing, people go at Apple, cos it's Apple, but Google don't get treated the same, cos haters gotta hate.

Some people’s expectations can probably never be met 🤷
Either products and services is to buggy and resources should be on making them more stable, or they are not innovative enough and new things should always be presented.

You started this thread at 1:53pm EDT. They hadn't even gotten to the meat of the presentation yet.

Are you guys for real? This was the most amazing WWDC in many many years. I've rarely been so excited for an iOS update and I might even jump the gun for beta 1!
Look when the OP started the thread. Clearly they wanted to bash the keynote and couldn't even wait til it was over.
