its extremely annoying to broadcast an apple logo on the front of my MacBook Pro...

is there a way to shut the light off?? help!!..

no, i do not want to paint it with silver:rolleyes:

I really like it, it makes the design of the computer look a lot better. Dimming the screen all the way down essentially turns it off, but you loose a bit of functionality :p.

didnt realize that the logo was a basic non-cased screen.. that lit up due to screen  :(

still hate it....

It looks cool, it adds a stylish touch to the case. But if you hate it, you can just put a sticker over it or something.

Errr, you could try covering it up with one of the Apple stickers that shipped with your computer. (Assuming of course that you don't mind the Apple logo to begin with)

If the issue involves the lit logo then short of covering it with something (including silver paint) you won't be able to turn off that logo.

I would think though that most people won't even give your computer a second look due to the ubiquitous nature of laptops in the society today.

The logo adds a uniquely identifiable and distinctive flair to the design of the computer. It can easily become the apple of one's eye.

there is no way you can turn that off, short of painting it. And yes, it is powered by the backlight... see my experiment with my uber-flashlight:

I also think it is pretty cool. I was at this club once where the DJ was using a powerbook and all you could see on the stage was a glowing apple:p

I like mine too, although I've always wished they'd make it so it would "dance" to different beats out of itunes with different colors.

I like Apple and their designs, but that is COOL!

On a similar vein I do know that because the MBP is aluminum you can have a powder coating applied to it. (same sort of coating that aluminum bikes get) Unfortunately you would have to disassemble your precious MB down to a bare case before the powder coating process is applied, and at that you just might be voiding a warranty along the way.

I think I'll stick to the SPECK case.

Call me a snob, but I want everyone to know that I have an Apple notebook :D

I think it'd be best not to think of it as an individual piece of branding. It's part of the notebook design, as a whole, and it just wouldn't be an Apple notebook without it.
