5.8" was absolutely perfect imo. I've never held a phone that physically & internally felt more perfect as a modern smartphone than the 11 Pro.

It's the ideal bridge between stellar performance and a relatively compact size. Wish the Pro line-up still kept that screen option alive.
For me mini feels perfect for one hand use. When use in two hands it feels quite strange (not just because of size but also a weight). I never imagine I could have so love & strange feelings altogether. When I sold my XS I was so exciting about this new design but size of XS was a maximum for me. For now I’m happy with mini size most of the time, not mentioning the pandemic / home office situation. I will see next year or two what future holds for us.

I haven't been this conflicted about the screen size since 2016 :) I got the mini and I love the feel of it, perfect size and weight, can't even feel it in my pocket. Battery is an adjustment but probably not much worse than, for eg, the XS so I can make it work... But I am having serious remorse every time I look at the screen on my 11 Pro (even though content displayed is the same). Don't know whether to keep the mini, go back to the 11 Pro (its heavy af but that battery is unrivalled), or go to the 12...

Steve was right, users shouldn't have too many options, analysis paralysis is a thing :D

I sold the Mini and I´m on the 11Pro again, found it really cheap on Amazon.

I waited for years for the Mini, but I used it for a month and it was just too small. It´s a pleasure using it one handed, yes, totally, but the 11 Pro is just better IMO. The notch on the Mini also became pretty noticeable, a lot more than on the 11P.

I also tried the regular 12 6.1, but even being lighter than the 11P it´s just too big, maybe is the square design of the edges.

Well, in my 2+ months or so of ownership, I really still love my Mini.

I was worried coming from the 8+ that the screen size would be a detriment to me when I typed texts/emails on it. And in reality, it hasn't been an issue. My hit/miss rate is pretty much the same. Even better probably. Would I want it a skosh wider for even more space between the letters? Sure. But honestly it really hasn't been a problem typing on this screen.

Everything else has pretty much been a pleasant experience. Yeah, the notch is still annoying. I don't see how people don't notice this yuge thing. Especially on the screen the size of the Mini. But I tolerate it so that it doesn't annoy me too terribly much. Otherwise, the screen looks great. The camera in this thing is very nice. I'm sure not as good as the Pro/Pro Max phones. But definitely good enough for my purposes. Optical zoom would be nice. But so far not having it hasn't been a real issue for me as of yet.

I do miss TouchID in this era of wearing masks. Yes, I have an Apple Watch and have used it at Apple Pay terminals. But sometimes it is awkward to use at some of them. And it's a pain to type in the passcode (sometimes on multiple occasions when using reward cards). I am even thinking of bringing my backup phone with TouchID next time I go into stores. But other than those sort of annoyances, FaceID has pretty much been flawless for me. I am still amazed how quickly it works and recognizes me almost all the time on the first try. (except for that mask thing, of course).

I really, really still enjoy using this phone. It falls so easily to hand and I can pocket it in almost any pocket I choose. Which is something I had to think about when putting away my 8+. It sure is a near perfect size for me. And battery life still hasn't been a problem. I think the lowest I had at the end of the day was 36%. And that was because I think I forgot to top off the battery before I headed out to work that day. But yeah, if you are a heavy user and use a lot of screen time, probably this isn't the phone for you. I am a light-medium user most of the time. And for other stuff like watching movies and such, I have a cellular iPad. So the Mini/iPad combo works very well for me.

Very satisfied with this phone to this point. Only thing that could make me trade it in is the (often rumored) return of TouchID in some format. That's really about the only thing missing from the Mini at this point for me. Otherwise, I am sticking with this phone for quite awhile. Thanks Apple for putting together such a nice phone in such a pleasant form factor.

TL;DR: Outside an annoyance or two, this phone has been a near perfect experience for me. Only the return of TouchID would make me bail on it.

Hi Austyn, from what i have read isnt the 6.1 Iphone 12 supposed to be about the same size/footprint as the 11 Pro? The flat edge design of the 12 makes it more compact than the rounded edges of the X,XS,11 series. Did you not find this to be the case?

I thought 5.4" screen would be too small at first, but now I just cannot wait to buy one.
It is bringing back memories from iPhone 4/4S era when I was super excited about the release and when Steve Jobs was still alive.
I am feeling nostalgic...
I own one. I could not be happier.

For those on Sprint, wait until you see how good the signal is now, and everywhere!

The interesting thing is that the iPhone 12 with its new design is only very slightly larger than the 11 Pro and manages a larger 6.1 display. This means that Apple could bring back the 5.8 inch display with the new design and it would actually be physical smaller than the 11 Pro. Maybe that could be the next “mini” if Apple ditches the 5.4 inch design.

Same, and I have been a Plus/Max guy since they started with the 6 Plus. It’s awesome to have a small, lightweight and pocketable one handed use iPhone again. The Mini is probably my favorite iPhone of all time.

Love my mini and also on Sprint. I work in a 7 story brick building that used to suck my battery so bad but sprint just added a tower on a light pole outside in the beginning of the pandemic and now I have 5 bars all day long!

Picking up my wife’s 11 Pro these days, it just feels like this big heavy slab in my hand. It’s funny how the brain rewires itself, because my Mini doesn’t even feel small anymore. I’m sure if I went back to a Plus-sized phone my brain would eventually rewire itself to where Pro Max feels normal sized.

I’m using my Mini naked, but with the MagSafe Leather Wallet on all of the time and it feels great.

Same with my 12 Pro Max I just sold. It feels like a boat in comparison to my Mini and I wondered how I even carried it and thought it was normal. Even my friends XR I took photos with today felt huge and heavy and its smaller than my 12 PM.

What‘s your thoughts about the wallet? Do you find it comfortable? Problem with the magnets?

I know it's a polarizing product but I love it. It feels nice and solid, and it's very comfortable to hold on a phone of this size. The leather even adds a little grip to it as well which is a cool side effect. A little awkward to get cards in and out of in the beginning but I don't find it bad at all now that I've done it several times. I can't imagine running into problems with the magnet, ie the wallet just falling off going in and out of my pockets, but everyone do these things differently.

The 12 is slightly taller and wider, but is also lighter.

But on hands I like more the 5,8 screen size and the rounded edges of the 11P!

That´s what I said. But 1mm + 1mm + 1mm over the years, makes the 6,1 too big for my taste.

Even being lighter, the 12 was uncomfortable compared to the 11P.
It’s point one of a mm lol not 1 mm

i had the 11 pro for 13 months, 12 is better to hold, easier to pick up.

Just couldn’t agree about that rounded corners (but agree with that size). When I‘m laying in my bed on my side, I can use phone with square design better, rounded corners typically slips down for me. Still wishing for a mixup of a bigger iPhone than mini, but still smaller than 12. Lol me.

Umm the 11 Pro? 5.8 🤷‍♂️ No?

Nope. I ditched XS in favour of mini. And 11 Pro was the most heaviest iPhone ever. Also I like more square design than rounded one. So maybe waiting for another year with mini. It still is a pretty great phone and so light that I barely feel it in my pocket. 😍
Ok lol. It’s the best size under the 6.1 and the mini 5.4. Doubt if there is a 5.6 coming out.

I know. Basically I’m happy with the mini. Finally I’m able to type and use only with one hand. But still, sometimes I want to write with both hands and that’s where mini is sometimes feel weird. It’s not all the time. Like these days when it’s cold outside and freezing and my skin is dry. I know that there isn’t ideal solution for everybody. 🙂
