I am really torn apart. I’d like to buy the current 12.9 iPad Pro, but I can’t bring myself to buy an almost 16 month old product.
Yet, if they don’t release it by March, I don’t think I can keep my old iPad as my main driver much longer...

The 2nd Gen 12.9. BUT, the touch sensitivity is broken and many, many times it won’t respond correctly to touch.
Lordy, I know what you're going through. I had the very same iPad and sold it last year because that was driving me nuts.

I bet there will be an update in march, so, if you can, try and hold out. If for no other reason, the prices on the 3rd gen will drop!

I’m waiting too :) I have an issue with buying things that aren’t the best. Knowing I might not have the best in less than two months is also preventing me from buying.

I had the same one, thought I’d have to pay for a replacement at the Apple Store, but they verified the issue and swapped it out for me. The replacement worked much better.

Either way, though, wait until March... or whenever. I usually buy new so that I get 100% of the use from the day it’s introduced to the time the replacement is rumored or announced ;D Even doubly so if you live near an Apple Store (because you can return easily).

Anyone think it will have up to 2 TB of storage?
I think it’s possible, though I have difficulty filling the 1TB I have. I DO like having a huge chunk of my library available on me (photos and music) without having to download.

I often get touch and brightness issues with my 2nd gen 12.9. Doing a basic settings reset tends to fix it for a few weeks but it’s annoying. (i also have light bleed on the right side)

I‘m hoping Apple will acknowledge the issues with the 2nd gen iPP12.9 and repair it. But if (when) they do nothing then I’ll probably get the 2020 12.9. It’s tough to justify re-investing $1300 into a machine that does almost nothing different than the 2017 models. But I really want an iPad where “It Just Works”.

I took mine in assuming I’d have to pay for the repair (mine had the light bleed, too). They ran a color test on it in the store and swapped it out. Don’t wait for a recall, take it and at least see what they say.

I am waiting impatiently too because my iPad 1st Gen 12.9 started to lag in procreate with it's last version and I can't support lag in drawing apps. It may be software related tho. Also the battery life, after 3 and a half years of usage isn't (obviously) as good as the first day. I love the current gen too but the reason that I am waiting are these:

- they may enforce the structure to avoid the bending issues like they had done with the iPhone 6S.

- To see if they will come up with Mini LED even tho I think that it is unlikely that they will do it before the end of the year and even if they do, i don't know how good of an idea it is to buy the 1st gen Mini LED iPad Pros. So one side of me wants it, the other one doesn't lol, so I am confused there.

- Any possible spec bump is welcome as i tend to keep my iPad Pro for 2+ years, even 3+ and I use it for work, for drawings i stopped using tablets.

- The new cameras would be fun gimmick even tho i don't see myself taking photos with an huge iPad Pro lol

- I am not satisfied with the current offerings of iPad Pro keyboards, so with the new one, since it will have a different camera bump (according to the rumours of 3 cameras) , I feel like many of those keyboard cases will be updated or changed. I would love/hope Logitech to bring the Slim Combo Keyboard back to the new gen iPad Pros (not the Slim Folio)

That's why i am waiting for the next gen. And if they wont make structural changes to the chassis to avoid the bending and if the specs bump will be minimal with no Mini LED screen, then i would take one of the 2018 iPad Pros with a good deal.

been planning on waiting but now in a difficult situation.
my 1st gen 12.9 has been stolen out of my Son's bag.

Really need a replacement before end of March and that's not even guaranteed one will be one released

only options I can see is buy a secondhand either a 1st of 2nd gen to use for now
don't wanna go big outlay on a new 3rd gen incase one is released in March

I HAVE A PRO 2ND GEN... NEW IPAD ONLY IF BIGGER SIZE, BETTER RESOLUTION (RETINA HD), and 16:10 ASPECT RATIO.... UNLESS THIS IS PRODUCED THERE IS NO REASON TO UPGRADE...

I MOSTLY USE FOR VIEWING, PRIME, YOUTUBE, NETFLIX, ETC...

I was going to wait, but got a 3rd gen 12.9 open box for $1000 tax included. Figured I saved enough it can last me a few years.

My 12.9 2017 has backlight bleed but no touch issues on iOS 13.3, knock on wood

Nor on 11.3.1 which it was on forever

Counting my blessings. Not hunkering down on another iPad for a long time

Plus my mini5 last year cured the upgrade itch
