Hold out until March!
There are rumors the new iPad may come out this spring and others that say this summer. And the default idea is “maybe sometime this fall like october”.

unless we have leaks and info that say we are literally a month or two away, I say buy now. Whatever the new upgrades are you might not even care about. Upgrade now

They’ve kinda existed last fall. I remember hearing we were for sure getting new iPads in October. Then “possibly” a November event. Here it is February

Therein lies the problems with leaks - totally unverifiable, making them as real as guesses. "I heard from a cousin who has a friend who has some relative who knows someone who works at Apple that ...".

I think the iPad's were pushed back, both Mark Gurman from Bloomberg and Ming -Chi Kuo reported that Apple was planning late 2019. The problem is that Apple can and it seems they regularly do, push releases or announcements back. Apple have been working on their own "Apple branded" over ear headphones for a while now, they were said to release in 2018 and then 2019 and now Ming-Chi Kuo is saying early 2020. Mark Gurman was reporting the headphones as well.

While both Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo are the most reliable there is at the moment, neither of them are 100% accurate all of the time. Ming-Chi Kuo got a lot of things right about last years products, BUT he didn't get all of the times right.

I would say if people need an iPad Pro now, then buy now, if not then wait. I'm still using my 2017 iPad Pro replacement it does everything i want at the moment, there is no need for me to buy now. I'm simply going to wait and see what Apple announce at a March event (if indeed there is one).

I want a 12.9, not sure to wait or pick up a good used for $700 less than new price now.

I am really torn apart. I’d like to buy the current 12.9 iPad Pro, but I can’t bring myself to buy an almost 16 month old product.
Yet, if they don’t release it by March, I don’t think I can keep my old iPad as my main driver much longer...

I bought the 12.9 yesterday, got a military discount off of the refurbished so I'm happy

Nice, how do you like it? What did you have before?

LOVE it, had 10.5 pro and that was too small for me, 11” was too small too.

Congrats. Tempted to do the same, as refurbished are a good deal with Military Discount. Just not sure to buy now or wait to see if new ones are announced.

If you can find a nice used one with big savings and maybe a little warranty I’d say go for it.

I’m pondering it, my 2nd gen has major light leak and the touch screen issues. It’s driving me bonkers... my Apple Pencil is starting to give me issues, and I don’t want to buy a new one if I’m switching to the new design (Even though I have a new mini that could use it).

the 64gb level going away would really help the budget stretch too. Hmmm.....

Buying now is the worst idea ever (unless you really need it)

waiting too but my gen 1 12.9 is still rock solid and works great still so will keep me going

and mine....32gb is my only downside.

Gonna get the 11” 64gb version, or whatever comes out next. Got a £160 voucher from Black Friday. Will trade in my 1st gen pro, and give my pencil to my daughter.

Soooo...yeah. Seems like now is a good time if you need it

Digitimes is not very reliable when it comes to release times. However they could be right and that the iPad Pro updates could come at a September or even an October event.

Its not. Also, that rumour is dodgy on many levels. I don't understand why you would recommend people to buy iPad when we are in almost 18month cycle and hte release is coming.

Is this a media or productivity need? Can't imagine needing more than 256
with external media now working with ipad

Depends how many films/movies one stores on it...

Think 512GB will be a good size to make sure you store a lot on it
