What do you think will be the base storage of iPhone 11/Max?

On a separate note, is anyone else HIGHLY OFFENDED that we pay upfront for more onboard storage, but the recent trend has been to NOT give you that same value back on trade in's!?

This, to me is almost bordering on criminal. And yes I'm serious.

I guess no one else is fed up about this.

Your comparison of the iPod touch and iPhone are really two different things that shouldn’t be compared, the iPod touch only offers a few storage options, compared to the iPhone, has much larger storage options. Also, consider the demographic for the iPod touch, likely a teenager, do they really need 128 GB of storage for a base price? (Which would also likely put the iPod out of reach for a starting price as well). Keep in mind, the iPod Touch is a basic media device, not a device someone’s taking 4K video or playing intensive games on that they might with one of the latest iPhone models.

Teenagers are very tech savvy. I would wager they use up even more storage than adults. At least start at 64gb like everything else.

Regardless, it's 2019. 32gb base for a media consumption device is just bad period and should not be defended. I could argue the base storage sizes throughout their entire product lineup is barely enough. They know what they're doing with their upsell strategy.

iPod Touch records video at 1080P30. The camera is limited to 8MP photos. It's basically an iPhone 5 in terms of recording capacity with HEVC.

In terms of music, 32GB allows you to store over 200 hours of high quality songs. That ignores streaming.

The iPod is simply the wrong comparison for this thread.

Perhaps maybe your placing too much emphasis on storage versus what a teenager actually uses the iPod for. I’m willing to believe the iPod is primarily use nothing for more than music and YouTube videos for the majority of teenagers, maybe some light gaming, but as I said, it’s an ‘in between device’ for a teenager that doesn’t have a phone.

I don't know any teenager who doesn't have a smartphone and would have use for an iPod. 4 year olds might not always have phones yet, but 14 year olds, no way, iPhone only.

You live in India, how would you know what the rest the world uses in terms of iPhones? I mean, do you have a spreadsheet showing data that every 14-year-old uses an iPhone? (I guarantee what you said definitely is not accurate). iPods are still very much popular in that segment alone with teenagers strictly due to that either they A.) Can’t pay either for an iPhone {or} B). Are not permitted one yet from their parents. But there’s definitely no truth to what you said, in the least for the rest of the world.

Most teenagers I know and see use iPhone 6S/7/8. Makes sense as iPhones are expensive gifts from parents. My niece is 20 and she’s just bought an iPhone 7 while she’s in Uni as the cost is about right.

To be fair to the other poster Indians really want an iPhone.

“On an average, we manage to sell at least 30 iPhone stickers on a daily basis,” said Prince Narula, a phone accessories vendor in Noida, near Delhi. “It’s usually the Vivo and Oppo owners who buy it as these products more or less look like an iPhone.”

What you’re saying is not mutually exclusive at all to the iPod. Regardless of a preference to an iPhone or not, the iPod is a totally different segment away from the iPhone because it’s a niche product that is meant to fulfill for those who don’t have access to an iPhone, There’s a reason Apple updated the iPod with such minimal specifications with the processor and storage increase, it’s not for the consumer that wants the iPhone XS or any other brand, it’s for those who don’t have access to an iPhone or can’t afford one, but it still ties the user into the iOS ecosystem. It’s that simple, no need to over complicate it.

That pretty much nailed it.

iOS for $200 and it has a headphone jack.
