So I have my new M1 MBP, and I'm pleased to say that it's perfect.

No dings or scratches, no dead pixels, no creaking hinges etc.

Who else got a perfect unit?

On the flip side, if you received one with issues, what issues are/were they?

Working on your posts London Fella? :p

I am sure I also have a perfect unit.
The annoyances I have/had, was due to software issues. Think of Bluetooth stuttering, random restarts, external monitor flickering. Some of these issues I've fixed by performing a clean installation of Big Sur.

HaHa, yes I have been a bit of a postaholic!

Glad you’re all good with your machine.

What did you get, by the way?

Yes I am very happy with my unit.
I can recall the times I had to replace my MacBook more than 3 times due to different kinds of defects, mostly with the display (ghosting, image retention, backlight), with 3 different generations....

I have the base MBP M1 with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD.

You got me paranoid about Bluetooth stuttering. Currently listening to some tunes with my BeatsX and there is no stuttering.

Enjoy your new toy.

I did, but much to my chagrin I'll be returning it!

They dropped the trade-in value of my Intel MBP by $500 after receipt. They're claiming it has pixel damage, and I had noticed some slight blotchiness of the display but never thought it bad enough that they'd knock my value. Oh well, it no longer makes it economical for me to get an M1 Mac now, since I know I'm going to get the 2021 16" ASi MBP anyway.

Really did love my M1 MBP. It was perfect (other than wishing it had a larger screen).

Really sorry to hear that, mate.

Can you not try to sell it elsewhere?

Maybe you can try another company, that's not so thorough with their testing?

I feel for you, bud.

I have both a M1 MBP and M1 MBA. The MBP has a slight red tint on the left side of the screen, which is the only thing I can tell that's wrong with it.

The MBA has the weird red tint issue explaining in another thread, but it's totally unnoticeable during normal use (i.e. not sitting in my pitch black bathroom with brightness set to 100% on a black background). The only thing that annoys me about the MBA is that it was wobbling a bit on flat surfaces, with the front right side being a bit raised up. Funnily enough it seems to have almost corrected itself over the past couple days. Not sure if the MBA is more "bendable" since it's so thin.

Sounds like you have quite a few issues.

Have you not thought about replacing them?

Have an 8GB/8-core & a 16GB/8-core MacBook Airs. No defects whatsoever!

Seems like almost everyone with the MBA has the red tint in the dark thing, so I don't think I'd get another one that's any better. And the wobble seems to have disappeared so I'm good with it for now.

I'm really trying to train myself not to be such a nut job about screen issues since I hate playing the screen lottery game.

I know what you mean about the lottery (exchange) game.

It gets tiring.

Mine m1 base air is perfect. The screen does have the red shift on a black background at max brightness in a pitch dark room, but i do not see this is day to day usage. So its perfect. :)

My MBA M1 also has red glow on black image on the right edge (visible in dark or dim conditions with high display brightness). Luckily no tint on bright images.

Also just noticed strange faint round "halo" around Apple logo on display lid!?!?
Shows up only when looking it in certain angle, also if I breath on it to fog it, it shows very clearly until fog disappears. Looks identical to this https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...inch-circle-on-lid-around-apple-logo.2041607/
Some kind of residue I guess but does not seem to wipe away easily at least (I tried microfibre cloth).

Will you keep it, or swap it?

You mean for the display or halo?
Probably not for the display as it seems to be the same for all and just risking that I could get one with bright uniformity issues too. For the halo not sure about that either. Trying to find out if others are seeing it too to see if it is worth to consider an issue?

I just checked mine, and it doesn’t have any kind of “halo.”

Can you provide an image?

You can see it only from angle. It is like some kind of sticker glue or silicone residue. You can't see it straight, only from certain angle in good room lights (not with flashlight either). Or if you simply breath to fog the logo, you see residue clearly until fog disappear.

Please check again my link, I edited it and it should work now.

Mine seems to be perfect. But i have always been lucky so far with the Macbooks.

Received an iPad Mini with a big dent on the back once, though.

Yes, I see it.

I don’t know if I’d return it for that, and I have clinical OCD.

A screen deformity, yes.
