Like I said I don't do this kind of test and don't see the point of it. If the screen is flawed I will see it when I'm using it. Apple apps are mostly white. It's easily to see.
I was just telling what my "standard" is and how my other gear usually pass that too.
That is something that shows up too if you use the machine in dark or very dim conditions in certain material dark enough. Again if you mainly use it with good lightning, it won't be an issue then.

For standard I didn't mean a method. I meant an eye. what your eyes can see. I have 20 years of experiences in this field. Your eyes and my eyes can be different. You may see one thing. I may see other things.

Camera prove my eyes see the same (sure camera exaggerate difference but it is there definitely). So it is not about "different eyes" and I have not watched displays in these conditions to check them for 20 years, I've been doing that around 30 years or so. :)

But I have no interest argue about this, just want to check if someone actually has MBA M1 that does not have this issue in certain conditions or not. There is no point for testing the same thing in totally different ways. So that remains open whether there are MBA without this feature or not. Anyway forget about this and I hope there will be others eventually answering to this. :(

I'll say this for the last time. I don't know you. You don't know me. I don't know your standard so it's all subjective. What you give it a pass I may not or vice versa. It's just a waste of time.
Good luck finding what you're looking for.

For the last time. I described the way to see and test this issue clearly, so I have defined my "standard" the best and repeatable way I can. I don't see what is unclear about my "standard"?
But hey, let's just forget about this! We are just going circles here wasting forum space doing this.

I don't have a chance to see what you see in person, so how do I know your standard. ??

The same screen you think it's perfect I might be able to point out its flaw(s), and trust me every screen has its flaw. Good luck finding what you're looking for. I have no interest in your method or your test, at all.

For the last time, I repeat what I and others see in person is in the thread I linked. With photos and all. Also contain example of good/acceptable screen IMHO.

I have no interest in your method or your test, at all.
I rest my case.
Let's for forget about it. :)

But have you actually tried that in a dark room with black or mostly black full screen image? It is hard or about impossible to see in lighter environment even if you know what the issue is exactly.

Do you use True Tone and/or Night Shift?
I like both and TT is always on and NS enabled later around 10PM.

Well sure you can find something to complain about every display but do there exists $999 device that has uniform black image without BLB or obvious different hue edges - answer is yes. I even now have Zenbook that cost much less than that with uniform display, but is lack even 100% sRGB let alone P3 gamut, it is much dimmer than MBA and so on, but it is uniform.
Take a chance, or you'll never know!

Exchange it ... I wouldn't suffer defects.

As soon as I see at least one or preferably few confirming they have perfect display in this test.
Otherwise I'm a bit shy and afraid it turns out to be a fools errand as before with my displays. I guess MBP would be best choice with display but I just like Air solid chassis more. Many ways better than MBP.

Haven't noticed any issues at all with mine, and I always do a pretty good inspection after unboxing just so I can catch any problems before the return window. The screen looks good, the hinge is smooth, nothing is scratched or dinged. It's a beautifully made device.

I was lucky. I was on the app a few days after release and attempting to order a 16gb 1tb MBA when it surprisingly showed it in stock at a nearby Apple store. I was mentally prepared to wait weeks and had a shiny new laptop 90 min later.

Back to topic, my unit is flawless so far. While I thought my iPad Pro with MKB was a game-changer, this M1 is straight up revolutionary.

I came from iPP with MKB as well. There's just no contest here. M1 blows it out of the water.

I actually just bought a MacBook Pro 13, 32GB, in May. I needed a laptop after 7 great years with my last MacBook.

even though I paid around $2k for the MBP, I was able to still find a third party trade-in service (ItsWorthMore.com) that offered me enough to almost make an even switch to the M1. For my needs, it was worth the hassle.
