i've had a .mac account for years and then it was converted to an @me.com address. both still work, [first initial][last name]@mac.com & @me.com

You don't need a @me.com address to use iCloud. You can use your iTunes ID for that. But you need a @me.com address to get iCloud email access. I make one to move from Gmail to iCloud.

I'm hesitant to switch emails from my Gmail to the @me. Right now it seems like a great idea to have everything consolidated, but I'm just looking forward to the day when maybe I don't own an iPhone anymore - then how convenient will Apple's email system be for me?

I had to create a whole new iTunes account to even create an iCloud account. I tried using my iTunes account id during initial set up, and it said it already was in use. Duh? Of course, that is why I was using it.

This whole process has me confused. I don't want to lose my MobileMe email address. And I can't seem to get everything linked up, it's telling me I need to upgrade to Lion on my MBP. I have not done that yet because I don't want to spend the $30 or lose battery life.

got (first).(last)@me.com so happy! I had to resort to some goofy configuration of my name for Gmail. no more!

I accidentally made two @me email address, with both being my name, one with the middle name one without. It's not a big deal as I am the only person with my name (as I have a last name that is not too common, and is spelled different than any other way I've seen)

I did, but then I've been a member since apple unveiled iTools, so I had better odds in finding my name which is wicked common

Not me! I have 2 far too common names....

Just doesnt work :(

so gone for [nicknam]@me.com instead which is also my username here!

Got mine. [first initial][middle initial][last name]@me.com. Not sure why I need another email address, but hey it was free.:)

[first name].[last name]@me.com I honestly didnt even realize we were getting me.com emails with iCloud until I read this thread
