Mine is rear wheel drive so at least the front tyres aren’t steering and providing the traction, so that’s a big help.
AWD of course adds weight. But my EV is pretty lightweight as they go. Carbon fibre lifepod and aluminium and plastic construction help no end with that.
Agree. You mentioned before that your EV is lighter than several EV's on the market. Also I had forgotten that numerous sports automobiles have front tires that are different in size than the rear tires. Rotating these tires is not possible.

My BMW i3s weighs 1245 kg. My last ICE car, a Golf was 1293 kg. More with a tank full of fuel.

The chassis on your i3 must be smaller than your Golf though where the weight is less concentrated towards a smaller centre of mass? Combine that with the added torque of an EV motor and you’d expect much higher tyre wear.
Yes it’s smaller (although feels as roomy if not more so inside). The torque is instant, but you don’t have to punch it like the Millennium Falcon on the Kessel run at every set of lights!

Ford just announced today - reduced 2023 Mustang Mach E pricing!

Retroactive to 1/1/23.

Makes my incoming Mustang EV reduced by $4000 !

You certainly don’t but people do. The ex FD at my wife’s company had a Tesla Model X and found out how quickly that could go through tyres, just 7 months for a full set at £400 a corner . He claims he didn’t floor the car a lot but who knows.

Man the place you got it from sure used a crap ton of armor all leather shiner!

I am still learning, but apparently this happens when you use most leather cleaner/polish because this is how the vegan leather reacts. Any little bit makes it shine.

Apparently there are better products to use, since there is no need to hydrate since it isn’t actual leather.

I personally view that electric cars won't be really viable until around 2029 or so, when battery chemistry improves, and DC charging becomes easy and ESPECIALLY reliable. The technological success of the 2023 Toyota Prius proves there is still life left with ICE cars if they can be properly paired with a decent hybrid system.
There are already millions of EVs in use as everything from commuter cars to semi trucks, and most owners absolutely love them, so I’m not understanding what “viable” means in this context.
I am pro technology as well. A car means independence to go where you want when you want inside your own environment and with space to share and to transport things. This is why I need range. 700 kilometres on a topped off fuel car is what battery cars need to match. And less than 10 minutes to refuel and go another 700 kilometres.
If this is your use case, then an EV is really not for you (although the longest range EVs are getting close to 700km range). But I hear this argument a lot, and I wonder: how many ICE car drivers really do these long distance road trips with any sort of regularity? Pretty small percentage, I’d bet.

I just use water with a few drops of dish soap on mine, which is what Tesla recommends, I believe. Works remarkably well.

For my part, I cannot see ever buying another ICE car. Electric is so much better in so many ways. Although I might feel differently if I were not able to charge at home.

I’m done with ICE as well. Just did a long trip for me. Stopped for 20 minutes on the way down. Arrived home with 25 miles of range left and plugged in. Disconnected after an hour though. Only need enough to get to work in the morning.
Then I can charge there for free.

Given the immature nature of EV charging networks (even the Tesla Supercharger network is not completely great), I still hope by 2030, better battery designs means I can charge a car and go 500 km (310 miles) in a ten-minute charge.

It varies by country. But I just drove to an area of the UK I’ve never been to and found chargers easy enough. The apps help a lot.

So Calif
Price war started!
Ford announced that the new lower prices are in effect, retroactive to 1/1/23.
Those that bought before the price drop in January will get a refund check from Ford.

This is something Tesla will not do for their customers - basically the middle finger for those that took delivery before January's price drop.

Also, my Ford window sticker is being re-done and will invoice at the lower price when it arrives at my dealer!

A big plus for me was the transitional (2022 -> 2023) discount of $6500 is being applied as well.

So my $57K Mustang Mach E will be $34K net before tax, title, reg....

Nice. The $34k sounds like the right price for a Ford. Unfortunately in the UK we don’t get such generous discounts! But it is getting back to normal on new and second hand cars here. Needs to as no one can afford anything anyway!

Another news worthy to mention....

IRS changed the maximum MSRP for the Ford Mustang Mach E to $80K (up from $55K earlier).

This means with the new lower pricing and tax credit for all trims, should drive more sales - at least till March.

The new Prius?

Or Corvette?

I’ll pass. I want an SUV (and NOT a RAV4: the peoples car).
The Prius mileage is VERY impressive and the new design is sleek and sexy, but for me too low and rather small.
My current gas/electric hybrid gets 38-41 mpg and has lots of people and cargo room. Along with my favorite ammenities. That’s more than enough for me.
After electric vehicles and infrastructure get hammered out I’ll consider an electric at the time.

How about ordering this one in the mean time?

Sounds good, but I prefer the F1 6-cylinder engine used in the AMG One. The problem is that it costs several $millions (not just thousands, but millions). One would need to have a very hefty bank account to buy that car. :)
