I just don’t find the battery life THAT horrible. I rarely have to charge my phone before bedtime, and I feel like I use mine a fair amount. Of course if I’m in the car, I always have it plugged into CarPlay, so it typically boosts the charge, but that’s certainly not every day.

Sure coming from 11 series, it’s considerably less, but I just don’t feel like it’s awful.

But its not fine on iOS 13.. the battery is tiny, and it shows. You've got a high performance chipset being driven by the battery from an iPhone 8.. and there is much disappointment. It says right on Apple's page to expect the same life as an 8. So.. not much better than a 7? All of the other A12's and A13's have a big battery behind them, while the SE does not. Mind you the SE doesn't have all of the hardware to drive that the others have, but still.. it shouldn't be a shocker. As enthusiasts, I'm surprised to even see these types of comments. I don't use the phone myself, but I bought one for my GF. Personally, I would rather use my XS Max.

I don't know why you are arguing with me. I have the SE and have run it with both iOS 13 and now all of the IOS14 betas. It is worse on the IOS14 beta, and I had no issues with 13.

Your option of the battery size is irrelevant to the point I am making.

I’m not arguing with you. Simply stating some facts. Also, it’s a beta.. don’t get so bent out of shape about it. It will improve. I ran iOS 14 too but the hit wasn’t bad at all on my phone.

Yea everyone will have a different experience. Have been mostly fine with my SE2020 except the annoying Recovery thing and the false Settings Badge. Widgets are a little weird, and I had that no cellular in 1 and 2 which were cleared by a restart. At the beginning of 4, Music hijacked the battery and drained me much more than usual. I am somewhere just over 50% by the time I leave work, and it had me down to Low Battery by a little less than half my work day. Once again, a restart cleared it, and the issue hasn't returned.

I know all of this. I was quoting someone who said the battery was bad on the beta, and I explained how it was much better on IOS13, so it should improve with each beta. Beta1 didn't have battery issues, but 2-4 have.

Crazy.. I had none of that, it was pretty much smooth sailing. I had a bit of a bug with Mario cart but it was fixed with an update.

Yea, fortunately anything that could be serious was cleared by a restart, and didn't return; at least not within the same beta.

The false settings badge can be corrected by signing in and out of iCloud / your account in the Settings app. Once you sign back in the badge should disappear. I had the same bug and it annoyed me so much I had to search for an answer.

Simple fix but, you then have to add Apple Pay again and wait for all your iCloud to sync. Pain the butt.

I think it does depend how you use your phone

My car has wireless CarPlay, which I prefer as I just get in and out of my car without worrying to plug it in. Also, can wirelessly charge in my car if I need to top it up

My work shifts on top of that are very long and the SE just doesn’t cut it

Good phone, dated design and old camera but represented well by its price and appropriately valued

If you value other things Apple has those devices in the lineup. It certainly cost me more to own an iPhone 11 Pro, but it’s a superior device in every regard face mask Face ID vs Touch ID use aside

My 11 Pro also lasts about 2.5-3x longer than my SE 2020, dark mode depending. Makes a huge and practical difference if you want that endurance throughout your week, without a hulking battery pack or case required

SE 2020 is a great phone for an average user but it has some drawbacks that are potentially significant depending on one’s phone use, and, depending on that use, the battery life of the SE 2020 can borderline on “horrible”

Thanks for posting a balanced perspective.

I still think it’s the perfect holdover phone or even standstill device

Of course 11 pro will smoke it in battery life but

the camera even being an outdated censor, keeps up results wise in lots of lighting with the pro

I’m finding Touch ID refreshing it essentially never fails me whereas Face ID noticeably does sometimes though ymmv

and I netted $325 Profit tossing My XR to switch to this for some funds for A later iPhone upgrade should I find it worthy

I’m finding the Touch ID refreshing also. I realize many prefer Face ID, and I’m certainly not opposed to it. I balked at it initially, buying the 8+ over the X, but wound up liking it just fine. There are times I really prefer Touch ID, and times I prefer Face ID. For opening the phone, I really prefer touch. For opening apps once I’m already using the device, Face ID is great because it’s pretty much automatic most of the time.

Neither would really sway me one way or the other with a phone purchase - they are both great.

I recently had to have my 11 Pro front glass replaced and while waiting for it to come back from  I used my SE that I have just for situations like this. While overall the SE worked I found that battery life and face ID were the two things I REALLY liked about the 11 Pro and really missed them. YMMV

unlocking in the car and while in bed still are a seamless joy again. And laying on table / off angle / unlocking while in transit from pocket to in front of my face

I’m beginning to take it for granted haha

Yes, that’s what I appreciate as well. By the time I have it up where I can look at it, it’s already unlocked and ready to go. I also like not having to lean my face over it if it’s on a table and I just want to look at something real quickly without picking it up.
