I was going to go for the M4 Max 16” MBP to replace my M2 15” MBA.

I like the MBA (screen size, general size, etc) but hate the inability to use two external screens.

If the M4s come down in price because of the M5 that will be good.

And besides, the only M5 I want has S62 power with 5.0 litre and 4 doors.

It's tempting. I have an M1 Pro MacBook Pro 16 that's four years old and is still great but I wanted a 14. I bought a Lenovo Yoga three months ago at 14 inches and three pounds and it's great. The M5 MacBook Pro sounds great but I'd really love the M6 14 with hopefully a weight of 3 pounds, the loss of the notch, an OLED display, a USB-A port (wishlist). A 4k screen would be nice too.

I'm happy with the performance of the M1 so the CPU/GPU isn't as much a draw for me as the other stuff.

Thinking I might upgrade my Macbook pro M4, 16gb, 1Tb, nano texure display (bought in Jan 25) to the M5 24gb, 1tb nano display now instead of later.

I salary package my laptops (pre tax) in Australia and I don't think I can wait until May for the M5 pros.....

Would there be a massive improvement on the M5 over the M4? The most intensive stuff on my computer that I do is Adobe Lightroom Classic - importing, viewing, occasional editing of photos.

If you upgrade, I think you will instantly regret... This MacBook is just a revision of the m4 model (to make people buy it if they don't have a recent MacBook).

I am hoping our company upgrades our m2 macbooks once 16in m5 pro comes out. I personally don't struggle on my m2p w/ 32GB but some of my coworkers are on 16gb models and they are always maxed out memory wise to the point of slow downs.

No thanks. No TB5.
Oh, No! You won’t be able to plug in that 8k@120Hz display!!!

Starting to sound like that’s a deliberate distinction between Mx and Mx Pro now, since the M4 Pro chips already have the TB5 controller. However, if you actually need the extra speed of TB 5 you probably need the extra cores and GPU of a Pro or Max chip.

How does the Lenovo compare to the Mac?

I need a 16-Inch, and am so confused by Apple's timing. Really want to scoop up one of thicker M4/M5's, as the rumors of the thinner M6 OLED's coming give me pause for battery life and thermal issues. But now, they didn't release the 16-inch M5, so I guess I'll get the M4 assuming I don't want to wait for M6? It's just so strange to me that they will be releasing the 16-inch M5/M6's t nearly the same time?

Assuming this translates across to the MBAir, my best friend will be in the market to upgrade his choking-on-it M1 gen. Assuming this bodes well for the M5 generation, I’ll get one in a Mac Studio. But no, the base M5 MBPro is not of interest in my group… thanks in part to my wife upgrading her 2016 13” MBPro for the M4 14” last year.

I'm not going to consider upgrading for at least another year. Maybe M5/6 Pro. My current M1 Pro is working just fine so I could probably do a battery swap(currently at 85% capacity) at some point and be good with that.
