I'm going on Week 3 with my MacBook Pro and I had to say I was a little shocked with the update but i'm still very happy with what I have now. It still amazes me everyday. Technology is always changing. I definitely don't want to buy a Mac and then Apple never make something new or better! Overall/ending thought: I love my MacBook Pro! :)

The prices dropped on the refurbs. If you call Apple, they will credit you back the difference. I had that happen once and called them up and they gladly price matched with the new lower price! Hope it works for you too!:)

Well i literally got mine friday and I regularly check here so I knew it was coming.

Saying that I don't regret. 3 reasons:

1) I got refurb so it was cheap.
2) I got 7200rpm which gives me bragging rights over the merom fanboys
3) No gpu upgrade - that was the only thing that was gonna make the mbp significantly faster (and for me significant = jump from ti 800 to 2.16CD)

Fw800, nice but my 2 externals are 400, and if its on the same bus as the 400 (anyone know?) then not that excited. DL burning no biggie (discs are $$). 2gb standard on the hi end is the gravy for me, but then thats not really an upgrade, just a good gesture on apple's part. Plus even a small bump = new hardware = potentially new issues (if the mbp could have any new noises, maybe a meow?) [this is the slightly bitter paragraph if you hadn't guessed]

No - no regrets...bit annoying tho.

The me who ALMOST bought one of the CD's in the last few weeks is kicking his hypothetical butt... Hard... A lot! The uprades are sweet. The FW 800 is awesome! 200GB HD and 3GB of RAM! The piece of mind of having a 64 bit machine with a 64 bit OS or whatever around the corner. C'mon, who can't say that that was worth wating for? And besides, if you bought the mid-range MBP last week then they are basically selling the system, the current low-range MBP, you just bought for $500 less today!!!! And is has more!!! More for less is good... very good.

Do you know if you had to purchase it from Apple, or if I purchased it from CompUSA would I have to talk to them about it? Thanks! :)

I do an I don't. Berklee College of Music is where I want to go in about a year and a half, and tehy have a laptop purchase program. They have just upgraded the required compiuter to the MBP. I bought a mbp and suped it up as far as it would go, so that I have a computer now that will last me unti after Berklee (you can get your computer checked and if it meets the requirements, you dont have to buy one from the school - this was the reasons i convinced my dad to let me buy such an expensive one)So if they now choose to use the C2D, im buggered, lost about 6000 Singapore dollars, and an unhappy father.

I'd rather have a 100gb 7200rpm drive than a 200gb 5400rpm. The FW800 is nice (I have a FW800 drive running at 400 because the CD MBP doesn't have fw800) and the bump to 3 gigs of ram max would have been really good for me as I always run out of ram. All in all, the updated line doesn't make me regret my MBP purchase (about a month ago), But some of the updates would have been nice.

I am a bit gutted about the fact the HDD is now up to 160gb - that extra 40 would have been nice. Not overly fussed about the chip upgrade, and my refurb came with 2gb even though it was only labelled as a 1gb so cant complain about that. There is a slight 'wish mine was a 2.33 merom' but its not that big a deal to me really - I would rather have the £300 I saved than the upgraded processor. My biggest worry was that they were going to do a fairly big case redesign, easy access hdd's and maybe have one in anodized black - if those 3 had happened as well then my MBP would have gone back to Apple and a new one ordered (its only 7 days old and I have 10 days to return it as a refurb) but as it is I would rather keep the cash.

Whenever I hear the term C2D, my brain changes it to CD2.

Here's why:

Got my MacBook Pro 2.16Ghz model back in May so can't say I regret it.

I do envy the FireWire800 port on the new one though ;)

sweet computer

I'm going to. I'm just not happy that I'm going to have too shell out extra dough to do it.

Wow, how did you survive with Windows 98?

before I got my MBP two months ago, I primarily used an old Emachines 600 mhz desktop with 10GB and 96MBRAM. talk about slow and obsolete. just think about an Ipod Nano, and compare it to my Emachines. This fact alone adds to my satisfaction of a Macbook Pro. And also considering I'm a new user, I'm not complaining about the new MBP. I don't need more than 512MB RAM. I use it for college, and the occasional photo and video edit. No Complaints or Malfunctions so far with my MBP. :)

Don't regret not waiting at all. Got my MBP 3 months ago and its doing a great job I love my computer :D

That was quite the jump in terms of computing power. :)

i don't regret getting my mbp one bit...because its a C2D!!! :D :D :D

hahaha. sorry, just had to rub it in for all the nay-sayers who kept saying they are happily using their mbp's while making fun of the rest of the people who continued to wait for the C2D's to be released. who's getting made fun of now? nanananananana :p

Let's see in a year :)

can't say i regret it. apple took back my 4-month old MB and i got a new CD MBP 3 weeks ago after paying the price difference. i knew that C2D was around the corner but i really needed a working computer for school.

with that said, i'll be exchanging my CD MBP for a C2D sometime before next thur (the store manager was kind enough to extend the exhange period). i don't really care for the new 64-bit cpu or the 1gb ram (been using 2gb ram since MB). but the added FW-800, different airport card, and 40gb more hdd space is really tempting. i've been having issues w/ airport ever since apple tried to fix my MB, and the problems continue after all my stuff was migrated. also, i only have about 30gb space left on my hdd and i haven't transferred all my p0rn from my old computer yet!

so yeah, i'm excited to get my 3rd mac in less than 6 months!! i told myself that my next upgrade won't be after OS 10.5, but i'm sure i'd be tempted if apple released a 12"/13" MBP before that!! =D

Nananna that they will be in the same boat as us soon :D All models get upgraded eventually you can't win

I purchased mine in late September, after my previous laptop stopped functioning. I couldn't have waited a month for the update. It's basically what I use for my education, presentations, and work.

lol i almost regret getting my powerbook. i bought it a good 6 months before the MBP and yea that whole "4x faster" kinda pissed me off

well, the difference from the PowerBook and MBP is substantial.. the CD and C2D isn't

I don't have one yet. I am going to PowerMax and buying a Core Duo.

Why? Because are these things actually 39% faster, I think not/ It may seem OhH 2.33 GhZ oh thats so awesome, but really you only need core duo.

So in all, a don't regret a future decision.

iMacIntel. Deciding what is right for YOU. And now, I decide what is right for most people is the Intel Yonah Core Duo processor.

I bought my MBP 13 days ago, returned it today taking a $250 hit from Apple and a $20 hit (plus shipping) from Newegg for the 1g RAM stick I sent back to them today. Including my time, it probably cost about a thousand dollars to return, but I'd do it again tomorrow, 13 days with that machine got a lot of stuff done. Tough part is the next week without one. Fortunately it's a week I can spend a significant amount of time in front of the MP.

That may be for you, but if a typical process takes 54 seconds vs. 60 seconds for me that's a lot of productivity gained. Time is money.

I agree

Any little bit helps. Especially if they are going to keep relying on such speed in the future OS. Its a nice update. It's nice to know it's able to handle a charge of activity

(A) Anyone who posts mocking others for waiting for 'the next best thing' needs to get a life... but
(B) Anyone who posts boasting about getting 'the next best thing' as a retort really needs to get a life!
