I would. I love my new MBA. Just as portable for my needs.

However, I need the iPad for on-device testing. I've run into too many bugs that are only seen on the device to risk parting with it.

I enjoy reading my periodicals, books, PDF's etc. on iPad. It is a keeper. While I subscribe to about 10 periodicals, none of them are in paper format anymore.

I bought the 13" last week and I love it. I thought the 11" was a bit small so I never considered it. Then I got a wild idea to sell my 64GB WiFi iPad and get a 11" air to replace. So, yesterday after selling the iPad on CL, I went and bought the 11" air and I love it as well. I fact, I am thinking of returning the 13" air and exchanging it for a 13" Macbook Pro. Funny how sometimes we end up loving something we dismissed early on.

Sold my 32GB iPad 3G to a friend tonight and picked up the base model 11" Air. I always need a laptop when I travel, so I found myself taking my iPhone, iPad and 15" MBP on trips. That's too much. The 11" Air is perfect.

I will miss the 3G connection from the iPad, but my iPhone should be fine.

I feel they are a great "team." I carry both in the same laptop brief that was designed for a 15" MacBook Pro.

I did not (or at least do not plan to). I use my iPad constantly for web surfing, calendar, e-mail, videos, etc. I am going to use my 11 inch air for travel, work, etc. So they will have different functions.

When I fly, I will take both. While that may seem redundant, I've shed several pounds from what I used to be carrying.

I sold my JLPGA PowerBook 170 and my Prototype Clear Case Newton Messagepad 110 on eBay to finance my MacBook Air:

Got about $1400 from selling both of these...

Am in the process of selling my 64GB WiFi + 3G iPad, my new 13in Air arrives on Tuesday. I love my iPad but its just not capable enough. Tabbed browsing I constantly get crashes at the most inopportune times and work arounds for things as simple as uploading photos to flickr from it are a pain in the butt. So as a sole computer, it kind of sucked.

I plan to look into either the new color Nook or a Galaxy Tab since I really like the tablet form factor and have purchased a lot of eBooks from Kindle. I think the smaller and lighter size will pair well with my new Air.

Just curious as to how many sold their Ipad and purchased the Air, and how happy they are with their decision after using the Air for a bit.

I am planning on selling mine this week. I loved the iPad but was just too frustrated with the things I 'couldn't' do with it. Had the 11inch MBA been available when the iPad was available, I would have bought the MBA over the iPad as it is exactly what I need.

I guess it all comes down to our needs and wants!

Classics!! Why man? Even though those weren't during the Jobs era.

Well, figured I would rather get a machine that I could get good use out of on a daily basis for practical stuff than my old collectible Mac items that are just "fun to look at" and collect, but are not really practical to use for anything at all. They were fun toys to play with while I had them, and fun to show friends and my Mac Usergroup, but they were not useful for anything other than saving them in my closet or playing with them every once in awhile. I was able to sell them for a good profit on eBay and now I am getting a grand spanking new MacBook Air that can run OS X and do anything. I plan to use my new MacBook Air everyday as a productivity tool, and get good use out of it, not just keep it in the closet or "say I have one"

Yeah, they were ultra-rare collectible Macintosh computers, not many people on earth own them, but I'm trading them in for something I can really use everyday. I think it was worth it.

BTW, if you are curious:

The JLPGA PowerBook sold on eBay for $770.00
The Newton 110 Clear Prototype sold on eBay for $585.00

The PowerBook went to a guy in Malta, yes, Malta. And the Newton went a guy in Australia.

I sold my iPad earlier today on eBay, got £570 for it (3G 64GB) I bought the Air to replace my rev.a Air, just I figured the iPad would get used even less with the portability of this 11" model. I also found myself using the iPad less and less anyway these days. There's also the factor that a new model isn't far off, may aswell cash in now.

I am keeping my iPad to play virtual instruments such as this really cool app called Seline HD that I just downloaded the other day. I'm also keeping it for 3G internet, which I am paying $14.99/month for. I don't have tethering, so it's my only 3G internet device. I find myself barely using my iPad at all these days, it's been sitting on my desk with a totally drained battery for about 2 weeks now, but I am on my Mac Pro (at home) and my Mac Mini (at work) constantly. I think when I get my MacBook Air it will help me get out of my desk chair and be able to "Mac OS X-around" a bit easier anywhere I want to. LOL.

Also, my iPad 3G was a birthday gift to me this last April, and I would feel guilty as sin if I sold it, because it was a gift from my Dad.

I finally got my 13 inch ultimate MBA configured today. It now does everything, and I do mean everything, that my old MBP does. If that kind of performance over the first half day holds up over time, not only will I have no further use for my iPad, my MBP will fall into a secondary role, too. I am thinking of selling my nearly 8 year old Powerbook G4 for whatever it will bring and moving the MBP to my kitchen.

Despite the 13 inch MBA being larger horizontally than the iPad and weighing more, it is thinner and almost as easy to manipulate as the iPad and does everything I would want any computer to do. I can't say that about the iPad, to say the least. Based on all of that, I suspect that I am through using the iPad, at least on a regular basis. Thus a sale may be in the cards.

Giving the fact that I spent billions in iToy this year I had to sell the iPad and my MacBook4,1 in order to get the Air.

I was just waiting for it. I couldn't bother to bring my Mac at uni, it kills me, and is hard to use an iPad at uni when the subject I'm studying is Software Engineering

I had fun with it, but now it will make someone else happy I guess. :)

Thanks for your kind words. I have had my 13 inch ultimate fully configured for only about 8 hours but so far I am very pleased with how it handles Windows 7 in Fusion's Unity mode while also handling several OS X apps quickly.

You and me, partner. I got my iPad in April during the first week of its release, despite having already learned what its weaknesses were. It was great for Web surfing while watching TV in couch potato mode but wasn't good for much else. I can't even imagine trying to do any serious data input with an iPad, much less trying to get through a college curriculum like software engineering with it. Executive summary: your phrase, "iToy" captures it nicely.

But but iPad is THE best toilet computer ever. I would not trust using MBA while doing my thing.
