I have a theory that some case users (not all, but some) become LESS careful with their devices because subconsciously they believe the case will protect the device. After all, that's why they got a case right?

I believe my theory is probable because I see more device users with cases tossing their devices around then I ever do those that do not use cases.

Again, not all case users - just some.
I'd say this is accurate for me. I picked up an iPhone 7 in matte black over the weekend. I'm currently using it without a case and I have one being delivered tomorrow. But once I get my case I will go back to being less careful with it. That said, me being less careful is probably somebody's careful. I usually don't have any easily noticeable scratches (if any at all) on my devices after a year of use.

But Apple devices usually look amazing without cases.

NEVER not used a case with mine. Always kept in mint condition to sell each year.

No need to anymore! In the IUP program and have AppleCare ;). May try naked this go around!

used the iPhone 7 with the Apple Black Leather case for a full day now, took it off. Made it to bulky and it does not give the iPhone 7 any (extra) grip.
Returning the Apple leather case.

Luckily I have AC+ ;)

So, naked all the way now

Always naked... Never understood the idea of buying something that is so nicely designed and finished only to cover it up! To me that's as bad as putting plastic on your sofas! (128 7 Matte Black)

Have used every phone I've owned naked and my jet black 7+ will be no exception.

Got my matte black on Friday, I've used every phone since the 5s without a case and I've never had a scratch or ding, somehow it's managed to pick up a small scratch on the camera bump, and a small deep scratch on the screen so I've had to put a case on this one.

The 7 Plus is the first phone I plan on using naked. It's also the first phone I got AppleCare+ for, as a piece of mind. Got the phone last Friday and the anxiety of using it naked is slowly fading :)

Naked JB. Don't care about scratches. I got a case for my 6+ simply because the aluminium is too slippy to hold, but the JB 7+ solves that problem. To each their own, though.

I never, ever used a screen protector on the 6+, and never, ever had anything even slightly resembling a scratch on the screen.

I prefer ultra thin, lighter color that I can see through and left for imagination to appreciated the beauty behind... what wait, what are we talking about?

I kept my 6+ in a case from the day I got it (the only iPhone I ever did because it was a slippery bugger) and still managed to pick up a couple of marks on it. To hell with it, this time I'm going back to naked and enjoying the slim form factor.

No debate on the bulk but wanted to add the leather cases feel slippery for the first couple of weeks until the oils tone down a bit and it starts to get its patina. Once that happens the leather cases offer a nice feel that gets better looking with time. This is not a pro case statement, just letting anyone else know the leather gets better as you go.

So lets look at what we have. Complain about design and then use a case. Seems right.

I on the other hand am not planning to sell my iPhone, but i'm not abusing it either. No scratches on the back so far and just minor stuff on display. Never used a case and not going to start now.

I don't think I can let my iPhone 7+ go in its birthday suit. The closest I am going to go to a naked iPhone is a full body skin (BestSkinsEver), I've used them on past iPhones and they are awesome. But due to my business, I have to put a protective case on my phone because its inevitable that it WILL be dropped from time to time.

I'm typically a nude with leather sleeve kind of guy but yesterday I put my phone in the apple battery case I got and now I don't want to take it out. The thing weighs about 98 pounds and is still pretty thin. The weight gives it a more premium feel. Like a luxurious brick.

Coming back to the more manageable 4.7" size from the 6S+. So I will be going naked again for the first time in a year. I am buying a Rhinoshield Crashguard bumper for when I'm at the gym, out hiking, or doing anything else where a drop might be more likely. Had one on my 6S+ and it's a great compromise between drop protection and looks. Day to day though, I'll be going naked. The matte black is just too good looking not to!

What's the point of buying a good looking phone then putting a case on it.

I just make sure it's in a pocket with no keys or coins in it.
