Maybe me.. Going to be my first Mac. Still deciding between the Pro and the Air.

I'll be going to the apple store on release day to play with the Air a little. If I like it more than my sisters' MBPs then I'll take it :D

If you find yourself using CDs/DVDs a lot, you might want to get the MBP instead.

As for me, if it can run Starcraft 2 at a decent clip, I'm in on day one!

Why wouldn't you go back to 13"? Just wondering. Another thing that kinda bothered me about the 11" was the hinges were looser so the screen would easily fall forward or back compared to the bigger 13".

I'd also be interested to know this, I'm trying to decide which would be better. The 11 is a beauty, but if Im going to be doing more coding or web work, I'm thinking that I'd be better off with the extra vertical res of the 13".

I'm maybe slightly blinded by the coolness of the 11, and it'll be (slightly) lighter to carry around when I'm using it at gigs with Battery 3. I've got the kit to cart around as well so any grams I can shave off the load is going to help!

Yes, that too. My first Mac must also be able to fulfill my SC2 cravings when I'm out and about in college :D

But anyway, DVDs/CDs won't be a problem for me.

The deciding factors for me are if the new Air will have a backlit keyboard, if the base 13 inch model will have 4gb of RAM included instead of 2gb, and if the rumors of an even FASTER flash storage memory is true (though if its not true, the current Air's storage memory is already really fast....)

If they're selling them on Amazon.com first day, then absolutely. I'm a big fan of that free 2-day shipping.

Not to mention tax free! and they're usually on sale a few dollars cheaper from amazon. :D

I don't think I would buy from anywhere else.

I am really wanting the new MBA (granted there is a backlit keyboard-otherwise 2010 model) However I will have to wait untill after I get my differential check from my student loans in mid-September. I guess this is good though as it will give me time to read reviews and make a more well-informed decision.

 oh no! this better not happen in texas! that's the best part of online shopping!

I'll be going to San Antonio from Hawaii in Jan 2012 for 3 years. but I'm better off buying mine at student rate with the $100 mac app store gift card...still if I wanted to buy other things on amazon, hopefully I won't get taxed!

Too bad you're not going to delaware! they don't have sales tax on anything, haha.

Amazon is fighting Texas, but we need the revenue for schools so to be honest, I'm rooting for the state on this one.

But as of now, Amazon has no tax in TX.

As for Delaware, their taxes on everything BUT sales are huge. You don't want to live there.

Well, I'll be out of the public school system soon, so it won't affect me much haha. Unless I go to a state university of course, but that's a bit different.

Oh well, the only expensive thing I can think of that I would buy online is a computer, so I guess if I have to shell out an extra $200 every couple of years for tax it's not the worst thing in the world.

I think I will.

Most of the things I would like to see are fairly reasonable...

  • 4GB RAM (Preferably standard)
  • 2677M Sandy Bridge Processor
  • Higher Resolution 13" Screen
  • Backlit Keyboard (would be nice, but not a deal breaker)

I would love to see Apple provide the option for a 512GB SSD, but I fear the cost would be ridiculous.

I would be replacing the Late 08 MacBook Air 2,1 (1.86Ghz) SSD model.

I know it's unlikely... But if you can get into Oregon there is no sales tax either!

A little closer than Delaware haha!

I think an option to get more SSD space would be a great thing so that I can fit more of my music and movies in one device. Otherwise ill just keep movies on a external HD (notebook size) and keep the rest of the media on the MBA. I agree tho...price may jump super high for anything more than 256 GB:eek:

I'm only going to try my best to purchase the Macbook Air 11-inch on Day #1. However it's about a 50 minute drive to the nearest Apple store for me... soooo... I'm going to have to get up somewhat early to drive over there and get parking and whatnot.

The only thing that will keep me from getting a new Macbook Air would be:

- They only have i3-based 11-inch Airs
- They only have low-end 11-inch Airs with less than 4GB of RAM
- They are out of stock (obviously can't buy if they're out of stock)
- They somehow reduced the quality of something that one wouldn't expect them to do (touchpad, screen, or something unforeseen that is not something Apple would normally do).

The list can go on! But you get the idea. I'm buying one so long as they turn out to have medium-high end 11-inch Airs that have what I need in them, and they're selling them at about the right price, and there's no odd out-of-the-blue issues with the refresh that I end up seeing.

I'll be getting one the first day. I would love more SSD but I doubt it will happen, even if there is an option it will be quite expensive.

Driving to New Hampshire (tax free) the day it is released after work to pick one up. I'm still undecided about 11" or 13".

I most definitely will be getting one (hopefully this Thursday). I currently have the '11 MBP 15" $2599 model that I purchased yesterday to keep me busy until then. Any MBA I select will be a deal!.. so I'll get the 13" fully maxed. The 11" is far too small to have multiple windows open in.

As long as I can get my 13" MBP sold by Thursday i'll be buying a 13" Ultimate on day 1. I plan to use it as a mobile dev platform so hopefully it will come with 8GB of ram and a decent SSD. Also i'm hoping and praying for the return of the backlit keyboard.

There is no tax collected from amazon in California. I just ordered something that was shipped and sold by amazon, and I didn't have to pay tax. I know they passed the law here, but amazon cut ties with all cali local business to avoid sales tax.

13 inch MBP isn't really a freaking pro machine. It has no dedicated GPU. I don't even know why it exists. 13 inch MBP has lower resolution than MBA and it doesn't even come with SSD.

I would stay away from 13 inch MBP unless you absolutely need that optical drive.

Personally, I have 11 inch MBA and planning on getting 15 inch MBP. Now, that's real pro machine with dedicated GPU and nice quad core CPU. I am waiting for real redesign on MBP line ups.

It's so freaking sad to see 13 inch MBA comes with as same resolution as 15 inch MBP. That's just sad apple.
