Fake Planet Oceans are easy to tell, a lot of signs. HE Valve is in a slightly different position, usually no AR coating, the hands are a bit shorter on some fakes, the Omega applied logo is wrong and the hour markers are thinner. The orange usually isn't as deep, rather its just one shade of orange. The pearl is usually way off as well.

Very sadly the Planet Ocean turned out to be a replica :( Makes me sad to be reminded of it. I know the differences now as does my girlfriend who bought it as a Christmas present from what transpired to be an unscrupulous dealer in the Far East where she was working end of last year. Cost of return flights to go out there now to kick his ass are better put towards the cost of a genuine one I guess.

It was only when one of the guys I know well in my favourite jewellers (I bought the Carrera and two Oris from him so those are beyond reproach) took a look at it a few months ago. Even he thought the Planet Ocean was an original until he compared it to an original he had in the shop. So unless you are in the trade and have read up extensively on the fakes being produced it is almost impossible to tell without having an original one to hand. What made it even harder to tell when buying it was that the strap, box and papers it came with were probably genuine, might have been stolen from the factory which lent it some authenticity. The galling thing is that the price, while good (obviously), was not commensurate with it being a replica.

Never mind, you live and learn and at least there was nothing fake about her other Christmas 'presents' ;)

I'm looking at Tissots' right now, but I can't make up my mind on one.

Every time I walk by a jewelry store, I fell in love with one that I had not seen in other jewelry stores...Life's tough =D

Guess I'm going to have to wait for my graduation ceremony ;D

The Omega Seamaster Professional is the first high end watch I owned. the Omega was a great watch and I cannot fault it in any way whatsoever.

I always had an itch to get a Rolex, so I sold the Omega and bought a Rolex Submariner No-Date 14060M. I could not be happier.

You're not going to get an authentic back-alley watch over in the east. I lived in Shanghai for years. The retail stores have mark-ups that are just as high as they are over here. If it's too good to be true, then it probably is.

But you'd be surprised at the quality of some of the fakes. :)

This was the equivalent of an independent high street jeweller, so definitely not a place where you would think would rip you off. My girlfriend knows better than to go to some shady shop in a dark alleyway (she's well versed in fake designer clothes and hand bags). Sadly the price was not 'too good to be true' either.

The quality of this replica is outstanding - I held the original and this replica in the shop and there was absolutely nothing in it. My jeweller admitted he would have been caught out too without an original to compare - I mean, how would anyone know if the orange was 'deeper/lighter' than the original and how long/thick the hands are?

I wasn't aware 'newer' watches like the Planet Ocean were so accurately faked, I always thought it was the older Rolexes etc that were most susceptible to this.

I love my watch, I wanted a rolex but for some crazy reason my parents don't think a 16 year old needs one. I found this one and instantly got over my rolex desire.

I love it! you can find it here

Man that's a pretty tight watch! Love it.

Guys I need your help.

Back about 14yrs ago Casio came out with a line of watches that began the shake-to-charge revolution. I'm looking for the chronograph line of these watches. However, I'm also looking for the Bulova or Boulova (?) watches of that same era as well. Any possible way to find these?? Their sites show no historic record of them. A hint; it was roughly 1-2yrs before the ad that a Casio/Bulova was worn by an astranaut.

Just wondering, are the fakes as heavy as the real thing?

Depends on the fake I guess. I was told that the fake will, if anything, probably be a tiny little bit heavier, but definitely not to the degree that a person could tell just by holding them. In my case, none of us could tell the difference in weight between the real thing and the fake.

Whilst nowhere near as nice as some on this thread, here are mine:
Left: Ripcurl Mid Magnum - only used for surfing and at the beach
Right: Nixon Black&White Player - Everyday wear. It's a couple years old and still gets lots of comments.

This is what I have. I found I kept breaking watches so I spent a little more to get the toughest watch I could find.

I got the same watch but with the tan face, I used a Victorianix watch for 13 years, in Stainless steel and no long glows in the dark, and the one I had in Iraq still works, but I will not wear it, it now in storage for the grandkids to have, seeing it was blown up with me.

I needed a watch that glow in the dark constantly, like my compasses do, so I got one, very pleased.

Tissot PR50 chrono on original Tissot leather for dress occasions on the left. I obviously haven't worn it in a while since the date is a day off.

Modified Seiko 5 automatic on a rubber strap with deployment clasp on the right for everyday wear.
