I have what I would consider the ultimate watch.

Sterling Silver Rolex Submariner. Purchased in 1984.

The Submariner is a quality watch. I kind of want one even though I'm not a fan of Rolex.

Eventually I'm going to pickup a vintage Submariner from my birth year.

But are you sure it's not stainless steel as opposed to silver? I've never heard of a silver Submariner.

Yes you are correct. My bad.

Had this for about 3 years now. I love the classic simplicity - champagne dial - brown leather strap - beautiful!

Far away from liberals
It a RAM Instrument Field Watch I purchased very cheap on ebay about 5 years ago for $15. It's probably the most accurate watch I have. Even more so than my expensive Tag's and Movado's.

Ever since my Danish Design watch broke about two years ago (I didn't think of warranty until it had already expired) I've been without a watch...

Yesterday I got a nice handmade leather wristband for my iPod nano, so that'll serve as my watch from now on.
I like its minimalism and it feels so good to finally have a watch on me again :)

Also, I received my stainless steel band in the mail yesterday. I think it looks really good as well, more like a watch and less like a gadget :)

Not necessary. I'd been wanting a white faced watch for a while and it was a toss up between the Milguass or Explorer II. When I saw the lume on the Milgauss I just had to have it.

That looks fantastic. I have to say, that's probably one of the first rolex's that I've really really liked. Otherwise, I think I prefer Omega more

Has been a while since that conversation, but I'd like to know what you guys think of the Speedy Alaska Project? I got the regular Moonwatch but thought this always a good and playful addition.

Love, love, love the Alaska project and was tempted by one a couple of times.

I have a couple of Seamaster's and would like a Speedmaster eventually.

Since i have a cellphone, i have never used a watch any more. It seems that i have forgotten the existence of the watch.

Just joking. My watch is currently in revision (650€ aargh!) and I have to say I don't miss it, but am glad when it's back and safe at my wrist. There are times I also love to keep my cellphone shut or at home (i.e. vacations / or where I have to because of security reasons), so a wristwatch is not always just about luxury or showing off. ;)

I'm going to post a watch that I want. I don't know if this is compliant with the thread's rules, so it might not work. Okay… here goes nothing:

The Mutewatch

I've become obsessed with the idea of owning a watch that shows a blank surface until, with a flick of the wrist, the time appears. This seems too pricey, but I want it, dammit!

My daily driver, so to speak. Not the nicest or most expensive watch i have, but I'm very fond of it. Bought it for a steal, originally assumed it was a replica, but it wasn't. Its been keeping time for 50 years, and I'm making sure it will do so for 50 more. Serviced and refurbished last year. The dial is the only bad part, but that will be sorted this year. You'd be surprised how difficult it is finding dials for these things. You'd think spare parts for Omega watches would be readily available.

Not to be rude but how old are you guys who actually use watches?

I haven't seen anyone wear a watch in like 8 years haha. I came into this thread to see if anyone posted a Samsung watch to troll the thread. I have seen a couple people with the ipod nano as a watch. Even saw this guy who put magnets in his wrist to have a strapless watch.

Nothing rude about it mate. I would consider it a fair question. Its one of those things that come with age. Like wisdom. The ability to appreciate a good watch is not something people develop early in life. I'm 20, for the record. However i used to fix broken watches with my father, still do in fact. Taught me everything i know.

However, we should also recognize the cultural differences, it differs in every country. And since macrumors is such a diverse forum, it will throw whatever statistic you come up with way off course.
