I am very much on the fence with my 13PM. I was ready to upgrade last year, but I thought the 3nm process would yield better battery life which did not happen.

Reasons to upgrade:
  • USB C! I travel regularly and being able to use one set of cables for everything is a big win.
  • Better cameras. I am pleased with the shots on my 13PM but they could be better...
  • Trade in value not getting higher. I use an MVNO, so Apple trade in is my best bet if I don't want the hassle of a private sale.
  • Even three years on, I don't love the size of the PM. I'd get a regular Pro.
Reasons to skip:
  • Battery health at 89%. That is pretty good. I can still get two days out of typical usage.
  • No 'killer app' for AI yet. By the time it comes, will 8GB of RAM be enough? I am not so sure.
  • Even if next year's model doesn't fix all of my issues, it will still be better than the 16 and be worth more when I upgrade again.

I'm on the fence. It's also my first post, I lurked for years, but I'm finally a member.

I have a 15PM that's only 6 months old (battery health 97%) because usually I wait until after the holiday rush when stock is replenished and the crowds are long gone, however I've pre-pre-ordered a 16 for a backup phone, but IDK. It's not the money, it's do I want another Apple device when folds/flips are beckoning.

Looks like I have another 13 hours to think about it.

Im trying to decide also. I have a 15 Plus that’s paid off and am pretty happy with it but it’s my first none pro phone.

I kinda miss promotion and the crazy advertised battery life sounds amazing in the 16 Pro Max.

I have one reserved and ready to order in the morning. It’s definitely a want not need situation for me.

Only caveat for me is that I've gotten hooked on the 5x zoom, makes a huge difference. Not thrilled with 60 hz refresh but I could live with it. There's another thread going that we have until 9 pdt (I think) to change our prepre.

Same here. My 15 Plus is my first non-pro phone. I miss the pro features, even though I love the battery life of the plus. If I do upgrade, I will get the 16 pro max. I am still on the fence though.

I was just in the (edu) store here in Norway, looking at the new 16 pro.

And resisted it.

Hopefully my (disliked, but fully working) 15 pro lasts me another year or two. :)

For so long I’ve upgraded every year and this year was honestly the first year I’ve questioned it for as long as I have. Almost 3 hours after pre-order has started and I haven’t ordered anything yet.

I’d love to go with the regular 16 Plus but I’ve grown attached to the 5x zoom. I could get over losing ProMotion but I discovered I use that zoom a lot more than I thought.

I got off the yearly upgrade train a while back. Went from X to 12 then 15. There is less reason to upgrade now to such an extent that I’d rather not be bothered with transferring all my stuff and logging back into apps.

Only reason I got the 15pro max I’m on now is USB-C and a marginally better 5G modem.

On the fence until I looked at my battery health on 14 Pro and Apple care drops off on the 15th.

15 Pro here. likely skipping it. thankfully Apple has finally copied Sony in putting a shutter button the phone ;), but not sure that's enough.

only way it'll happen is if the SO upgrades from her 13P and takes mine. but so far, she sees no reason to bother (not sure if "Apple Intelligence" is even on her radar).

Probably I'll just upgrade my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra instead to something current. :p
