Didn't see one of these threads around -- and I remember there being a ton when the Core 2 Duo MBPs were released in late October. Just reply back here and let us know what configurations and specs you're getting!

Didn't see one of these threads around
I think this is the third such thread yesterday/today so far.

I ordered a 2GHz whitebook with 2GB RAM and 80GB HDD yesterday. FedEx is cruelly going to deliver the sleeve and mouse today(!), but Apple still hasn't shipped the computer. They are teasing me.

Well, when I looked around and did a search, I just saw a few specific threads of people writing about their own personal purchase -- not one thread that had everyone's together like last time. Not a big deal, just thought I'd get something going. :)

I wish they'd ship everything together too! Can I ask why you didn't go for the big 200 GB hard drive or even the 160? Just wondering... because I'm not too sure on what to decide for myself if/when I get one.

i didnt order apple replaced my 2.0 c2d macbook black book this morning with a new 2.16

how did u manage that? im interested because i'd like to do that too!

well you just cant do it, ive gone through 4 macbooks in the past year and then got a black one for birthday and it started to mess up so i called and told them my problems and they said they would replace they would have to call me back they waited 2 days and the new ones came out yesterday and asked if id like that as a replacement, i asked if i could have a extra magsafe and she said sure too.

wow you are incredibly lucky and unlucky at the same time. guess you deserve a new one.

I ordered mine Tuesday afternoon as well. Stock top-line White model. I am adding 2GB via third-party, and I'll leave the hard drive as 120GB for now, and think about upgrading it in a year or so when I can hopefully get something like a 200GB @ 7200rpm.

I'll be placing my order next month for the midgrade model with the 160GB HD and 2 GB of ram. Finally replacing my 400Mhz G4 Powermac!!

hmmm

A question for those who have ordered- how long are the estimated shipping times?

My brother and I are hoping to get one for our dad, and I'm curious to know how long it'll take to ship. (or, even better, when people receive theirs if they could post ans say so please!)

Thanks!

I am!!

:) I am, I got the old credit card ready and everything....

One problem, I cant decide between black or white *starts hearing micheal Jackson tune*. I would go white but im paranoid about the dirt showing up after awhile.... hmm.

But yes, by midnight i will by the proud owner of reciept for a macbook.

If you guys have colour suggestions , your advice would be appreciated.

Hope I'm not too late, but get a blackbook man... they're cool, or if you don't want a premium, just upgrade to the same specs if that matters. White ones are classic, but black ones are sleek. I don't know if finger prints are an issue with you, but my black show them well, I dunno about the white though.

The white 'books don't show fingerprints or grease, but they do get really fine scratches VERY easy. Toss up, I suppose. I guess on one hand, fingerprints and smudges can be cleaned (but it will only be 10 minutes before they show up again), but the white's scratches are permanent (but you can only really see them if you look for 'em).

BTW: I've had both. So I'm speaking first-hand.

I'm pretty positive I'll be getting the black version using the HED within the next two weeks (my payout from a recent writing gig should be coming my way within 10 days and my current laptop is literally on its last legs...), more than likely at the spec configuration -- seeing as a 2 GB RAM kit is about $70 less than what Apple is charging to upgrade. Although I'm very, very familiar with Macs, I haven't ever owned one before. I'd like to just hold-off until WWDC to see if the MBP line-up will use the Santa Rosa chipset (I'm with the group of people that are frustrated that the regular MB line-up didn't get the upgrade...the FSB and wireless issues are negligible, but the GPU upgrade would really, really be nice), but I may not be able to do that - because as I said, my current laptop is on its way out. It almost died on me today (I'm just thankful I'm typing on it now and still have my files intact), so it is serendipitous that I'll soon have the funds to upgrade. Even with the GPU issues, I still want to go Mac rather than Dell or Fujitsu -- just because I can dual-boot Vista and take advantage of FCP.

My only half-worry is this -- I've been using laptop with a 16" screen for more than four years...what's the screen like, on a day to day level on the MBs? I have a 19" LCD I can connect to, if I need heavy-duty space, but on a day to day level, does anyone who has the MB now have any serious complaints about the 13.3 screen?

Ordered my black macbook Weds 8:40am on the phone. Got an email to say it has been dispatched 10:40pm - the same day! Here's my thread. :EDIT: ZOMG IT JUST ARRIVED :)

filmgirl, I was worried about screen real estate too. It is rather small but very sharp, and the 1200 by 800 resolution is enough for running at least two apps. I find myself using Office, Adium and a safari without problems.
To illustrate I use a macbook with an external keyboard and mouse, so you dont need to have it right up in your face to see anything. There will be no squintin' ;)

You will learn to love Expose.

[edit]

I ordered one today, stock 2.0 model. Strange but Apple lowered the price on the low end model a second time. From ~968€ to ~ 944€ incl. 12% student discount. I found a pair of Kingston 2 gb modules for a pittance, about 105€, that I ordered as well. I know that in 3-6 months a definitely SR based possibly led-endowed MB will arrive, but I just dont want to wait that long.

Expected delivery monday 21st or tuesday 22nd ^_^

I ordered a 2GHz whitebook with 2GB RAM upgrade [BTO takes longer, even though it's one. damn. chip.] on Tuesday at 9am California time (11pm Shanghai time). It shipped from Shanghai on Thursday at 4pm Shanghai time (2am California time). FedEx is saying that I will get it by next Tuesday (free shipping), but FedEx has been known to beat their estimates.

So there: if you're in California, you'll get it within a week.

Yeah, but I would guess that they have to take it off the shelf, open it up, fiddle around taking out the 2 x 512Mb sticks, put in the 2 x 1Gb sticks, test it and then (and only then) can they ship it.

Also, why BTO the 2Gb, get it after-market and save $$$

I ordered a standard top-line Macbook (white) on tuesday evening... it arrived this morning (thursday)... a day early. It's my first Mac, so have been getting used to OS X most of the day... Pretty impressed so far.

maybe you don't want to break it, and money isn't a realy big issue... so you would just rather let them do it and w.e...

For the price, I'm tempted, but I had a test drive with a friends MB and I cannot stand the tiny speakers, my 12" PB sounds better and louder.

The solution is to buy external speakers but I'm not prepared to do that due to lifestyle (like to stay portable).

The screen use to bother me as did the keyboard but now I'm fine with those features, its just those speakers. Oh well, I'll wait to see what is at WWDC with regard to laptops.

Thanks!

I'm in Canada, but that's still good to know! Thank you for responding, Bad paper!
