I get a headache trying to decide. Going to wait the 3-6 months for a
new MB or MBP with the new led screens and/or leopard.

UNLESS my current 3.5 yr old G4 ibook 933 conks out-then its the MB with 2gb ram. So tired of the pinwheel on this one-maxed out @640 mb ram.

I will not be purchasing a new notebook until Apple releases a smaller model, Pro or otherwise.

Can you go much smaller than a 13in?? I don't think I could stand something that small. Heck, I'm trying to go to a 17in from a 15! (I'm used to dual 19in monitors on my Windows PC)

I think this is the third such thread yesterday/today so far.

I ordered a 2GHz whitebook with 2GB RAM and 80GB HDD yesterday. FedEx is cruelly going to deliver the sleeve and mouse today(!), but Apple still hasn't shipped the computer. They are teasing me.

Hah! Reminds me about the time when I got my new iPod case a week before my iPod. I almost died.

Ive waited for a long time now, hoping for santa rosa in the Macbook, yet it hasn't come and I think I may just buy the black macbook now as they have just updated it. I figured i don't play games much anymore.... will it be fine for leopard when its released though?

I made a thread like this a few days ago. Anyway, I am picking up a 2GB ram Blackbook today!

Sweet, I just picked mine up about 2 hours ago. Wow, this thing is nearly on par with my iMac! I got the BlackBook "ultimate" edition with the 160GB, 2GB RAM and 2.16 C2D.

are you gonn run any games on it?

if you do let us know how it handles them please...

GMA950 is all thats stopping me buying one right now

If Apple don't release a new Mac Mini soon, then I will probably buy the new Macbook instead. Here in NZ, the 1.86 Mini costs $1500, and the new Macbook is $1800. So for only $300 more I can have a way faster CPU, twice the RAM, and the benefits of laptop functionality.

BTW, do the Macbooks have DVI out?

they have mini DVI out, you need an adapter which you can just add on when you buy your laptop

Awesome! I think you made a good decision on purchasing the "ultimate" edition. :) Give us details on great it is!

Update

I ordered a 2GHz whitebook with 2GB RAM upgrade [BTO takes longer, even though it's one. damn. chip.] on Tuesday at 9am California time (11pm Shanghai time). It shipped from Shanghai on Thursday at 4pm Shanghai time (2am California time). FedEx is saying that I will get it by next Tuesday (free shipping), but FedEx has been known to beat their estimates.

So there: if you're in California, you'll get it within a week.
...and indeed, they beat their estimate by a day. That is, my Macbook is at home. Right now. FIVE MILES AWAY. And I am stuck at work for another seven hours. oh, the agony

Thus, total time from order to delivery was exactly six days. And that was with free shipping.

I'm purchasing something in the next couple/few weeks. Just trying to decide whether it will be a macbook or a macbook pro

i couldn't wait any longer for sr/leopard/led/iLife07 (my PC died 2 months ago) so i picked up the 2.16GHz macbook this past weekend at education discount price.

heat issues

I ordered a white 2.16ghz with 2gb ram... should arrive soon! for those who got one already: do these new ones heat up as much? did apple fix the heat issues?

I love the 17" screen estate on my MBP work machine, and although not as portable as the 15 or 13, I wouldn't give it up for day-to-day use :D

I do really want a portable Apple though for travelling with as a purely personal machine; 11" or (as is currently rumoured) a really thin light 13" would be great if they ran a higher resolution than the MacBook. Hopefully by Q4!

i am soon planning to get one.
i just have to wait till my brother's friend to buy my macbook pro. (hopefully sometime this week. . )

im always thinking that a 15.4 inch is too big for me. . not that portable when i have to travel walking distance to my place all the way to my friend's place up in the valley which kills me badly.

13.3 inch macbook should be light enough (somewhat). plus i always wanted a macbook instead of a macbook pro.

the macbook pro 15" is lighter than the macbook, but its more awkward to carry because of its larger size.

wake n bake logic... you're right, i think i meant it is slimmer.

 That it is. I think it's slimmer than my 15" powerbook was as well, though I could be wrong. I've never looked at a powerbook and a MBP side by side, i just remember thinking that the pro at the store looked thin last time i was there.
