Funny someone brought this up

A couple years ago I went in to test out a laptop for an extended session and I went and snagged a chair from the "help" area.

One of the staff came by and said "that's a good idea!"

Had they given me any grief, I would have asked if they'd prefer I test the laptop and perhaps become a buyer ... or they reclaim the chair and I walk out mostly pissed off
Well... bye. I doubt they would give a hoot if you walked. Consumers are so full of themselves these days.

Needing a chair to test out a laptop on a table is “full of myself?”

😵‍💫

I guess I was under the impression the stores are there so you can try out the products?

It’s probably been 10 years since I’ve set foot inside a physical store instead of ordering online but last time I did, they had stools by the tables where staff would teach people how to use the products etc. This was in the UK, I think in the Leeds store. Have Apple stores got rid of seating?

There’s an old meme of a guy at an Apple Store with horrendous posture being shown how to use an iMac, and he’s sat on one of the stools I remember seeing.

haha, this is such a true take. I'm guessing as other people said, they want you in and out and not to linger without having to tell people to leave.

You have to request it.

My local Apple Store will give you a chair if you ask for one.

When I was at the Apple Store picking up my iPad, a very large woman came in who could barely breathe, and I heard her ask for a chair. The employee went into the back of the store and brought out a folding chair; the kind you would sit in at a high school graduation.
Yes, this. At my Apple Store they have the usual high stools at the tables towards the back of the store, where they have demos, classes, Genius Bar help, etc. There's plenty of seating. But a few times I've also seen people request a regular chair; for example, one lady who was walking slowly with a cane requested one and they brought out a folding chair for her in less than a minute, tops. As a mother whose daughter is handicapped, I was impressed.
