Konda funny how all these phone providers have them no problem yet Apple cant get it together for their own stores

I really think it's supply-and-demand. Apple gave, say 10,000 to AT&T and 10,000 to Verizon, while it gives itself 10,000 a day across all it's Apple stores. People just don't think of going to AT&T or Verizon to get those things.

I would have NEVER thought to get mine at Verizon unless I was on these message boards. I would have waited for 6 weeks at the Apple Store.

Look at Best Buy - somewhere else I would think of going. They have a 6 week back order, just like Apple. It's just the places you don't expect to buy them, where they are available. Plus, you can't go into a Verizon or AT&T store to get them either, they're unavailable there as well. Only available online.

x2. I agree with this. Most people do not think of going to phone retailers for Apple accessories.

Yeah, it's hit or miss most of the time though due to high demand and low supply. When I was ordering my AirPods in early June, they were not in stock from any retailer -- Apple, BestBuy, Verizon, ATT, Staples, etc. Zippo. So I just ordered them from Apple's online store knowing I had to be patient and wait for 6 weeks. Finally got them last week. Still getting used to them, but very nice so far.

Well, for the second time in the past couple weeks or so the two Apple stores near me received stock that lasted long enough for me to buy for in-store pickup. Saw the istocknow email notification 5 hours after they arrived today and decided to pick one up.

Funny thing. When I went to pick them up, the people there were surprised when I told them I just ordered them. They thought I ordered them 6 weeks ago. They didn't know the stock was there as no one put them on the shelves yet. So - always ask or better yet, use istocknow if you want to get them in person.

Managed to order a pair from AT&T for my brother's birthday in July - used istocknow for that and while everything else was out, I saw another notification on there to check AT&T. Also got a pair for my wife at Argos here in the UK 2 weeks ago, ordered Sunday and picked up Monday morning - but nothing else was in stock across the UK at the time...

I thought everyone here was saying they looked hideous. I guess I'm confused by you saying it's a fashion trend.

I think one would say they are a trendy item, because of that it becomes a fashion item because you wear them. Not necessarily that they are a fashion trend. It is a chicken vs egg point. Either way because they are a hot item, with little supply they are hard to get.

FYI - if you haven't checked yet, a lot of Apple stores in the USA on the East Coast a lit up with AirPods, including the two near me that I bought from last week. Check istocknow.com if you want to see.

Same as the one near me as well. It sounds like they are catching up. Last week they had couple dozen in stock. Just today, they got new shipments.

Also check 3rd party sellers. Here in the Netherlands I always use the website www.tweakers.nl/pricewatch to check the prices and availability on every electronic device I want to buy. This is how I found out that the reseller (in my case Centralpoint.nl ) had 9 sets of AirPods in stock. 1 day delivery, so I bought them directly. Had to wait just the one day! Brilliant :D

Apple is certainly trying too. Cook commented on This:

"We're also seeing incredible enthusiasm for AirPods. 98 percent customer satisfaction based on Creative Strategy's survey. We have increased production capacity for AirPods and are working very hard to get them to customers as quickly as we can, but we are still not able to meet the strong level of demand."

Ordered my AirPods Monday from Best Buy and the are arriving Friday. In the mean time I've gone back to using the included EarPods and I forgot how badly they hurt after wearing them for a long time! Yikes! I may end up getting Beats X Instead.

The wired ones hurt my ears but the AirPods are perfectly fine. My GF has Beats X and I personally am not a fan.

This is interesting. In my experience, the wired earbuds and the AirPods fit exactly the same... the only physical difference that I can see is one has wires hanging from them, the other does not.

There is a huge difference between how the wired and AirPods feel in the ear. The reason being is the wired ones pull down and stress the ear. Try the AirPods when you get them.

I've had them since December... wear them every day. Feel the same to me... but to each his own... (Not saying you are wrong, just saying that to me there's no difference in fit, feel or comfort level.)

From the Buy now page on the Apple site it said Sept delivery--went ahead and hit the order button, and low and behold, said I could pick up in and Hour--and I did
Asked the person that got them for me at the Apple store if they got in a shipment for resale at the store--she said "No--you must have ordered online"--so if you see unavailable--just try clicking on the buy button

Your results may very

If you want to test your theory, try going back to the wired earpods for an extended time, and see if they really do not feel different. I have a feeling you may change your stance.

To me, the free wired earphones have been garbage since I got my iphone 4 (first iphone). I tried every one, and they always fell out my ears, or sounded tinny. Before the Airpods the only Apple earphones (not including Beats) I liked were the $100 apple earphones that had the silicone tips, those were awesome. With the Airpods, I'm now back in with Apple earphones.

I was able to pick up a pair this morning at the Target nearby my house. Placed order online and they were ready within an hour. And I saved a little by using my target credit card. So far I love them. I was worried about them not staying in my ears, but they are snug and comfortable.

Mine came in the mail today but I'm thinking about selling them for the Beats X. I had $55 in BB reward zone certs so can probably make $50 profit if I sell them and get the Beats X. I've been wearing regular EarPods for trainings the past couple of days and my ears hurt!
