I apologize beforehand, as I really can't help myself.

Since you are knowledge bomb, I wanted to drop some English knowledge:

  • Nauseous is actually an adjective which describes the cause of the sick feelings.
  • Nauseating is the adjective which describes one who is suffering from the feelings.

"@iF34R 's phone was nauseous to him. Every time he thought about the 100mb limit, he became nauseated."

Your post doesn't make sense to me. Nauseating describes something that causes nausea, no? Nauseous describes the actual sick feeling. Not sure where you're getting your "English knowledge" but these links should help:

It was all in good fun. Offense wasn't my intention. As it wasn't taken the way I intended, I'll just drop it altogether. My apologies.

No offense taken. I'm always out to make sure everybody's on the same page. Tough gig around these parts. The name itself is an oxymoron as I would never come around a place like this claiming to be smarter than anyone.

Cheers!

Every time I look at my stock phone, I wanna puke. Every time I try and download something from the app store and it tells me it's over 100MB can't get it without wifi, I wanna puke. Why is Apple so far behind with the limitations of the features people want/need?

Yep. A whole lot of puking for something you choose to impose upon yourself. Not to mention that when you (and others in the same fashion) mention these nebulous "people", you are basically just using weasel words.

On another note, is the 100mb limitation regarding app updates still in use? Just today I updated Paypal (some 130mb) on cellular, and it went through just fine.

Or are there perhaps regional differences regarding the size of updates / downloads?

It's more that the size that gets listed is the size of the full installer rather than the more typical and usually smaller delta update that gets used for updates.

I have no problem downloading app updates and apps that are over 100MB on my data plan. Messenger and Facebook are over 150MB and I update them on cell data all the time. The only thing you can't do is update the iOS software on cell data.

I agree that this is very annoying. I can stream Full HD videos on my unlimited plan with no restriction, but I can't download this new app right now until I get home

Because the streaming has nothing to do with Apple. That's your own problem. Downloading the app *does* involve Apple, and would immediately lead to the idiots crying, so they stop it.

His point is about the freedom to use the data as he sees fit. Instead of educating the user base, Apple just wants to restrict everyone. That's an absurd premise.

It seems so obvious, but I'll say it anyway... you can't "educate the user base". Collectively, people are morons.

You can add a switch for people with unlimited data. Hidden in obscure settings, never prompted for

Which will probably get publicized not only in tech blogs but even regular news as this "awesome hidden feature you should know about and enable" once people come across it. ;)

So what? Then it's not apple's fault.

You do realise that automatic updates over data is potentially FAR more dangerous than going over the per-app download limit. You could go several times over the 100mb limit in total with that, without even realising! And guess what- there's a switch for that.

Can you imagine how much lawyers would love letting people do this? They'd be suing before people even exceeded their data limits. I don't understand why people can't wait until they hit a wifi spot to download updates? Most updates I get for apps only update the number and crud of ads.
I think they should leave the limit as it is.

I feel like with the downloading data limit it's more so you won't go over your data plan limit and have to pay additional fees. I actually appreciate this feature, unless you have an unlimited data plan, which a lot of carriers are dropping, you're not gonna want to waste your data downloading an app.

Why did you buy something you don't like? Ok maybe you didn't know you didn't like it until you got it - if thats the case just get rid of it, it's a damn phone, so insignificant... if it's not for you, replace it.

You will soon know people are loving to be "limited" if being properly propagated.

As others say, downloading app is related to Apple and Apple does not want to pay hefty legal fees.

There are people that have no access to wifi in their homes. They go to T-Mobile for unlimited data. When something like this happens, what should they do? Go to McDonalds for an unsecure connection? Leech off a friend's wifi?
All because Apple won't let them use their data as they want?

Updating an app is not an emergency that needs to be done as soon as it hits the appstore.
It can wait.
if you dont have wifi available that's your problem.

If you don't have wifi you're not updating your iOS version either with ota. Guess you can use iTunes.
