I'm neither. And it annoys me when people / response-ads say they are. They kinda missed the point of the "I'm a Mac. And I'm a PC" ads. I do happen to be a user of both Windows and Mac OS X, though. Remember: "I'm a Mac. Hi, I'm a Meagan."

It wasn't really meant as a joke.
oh i know, you dont joke much. your a very serious person ;)

It's one thing to hear some great stories, but asking for great stories about Mac purchases is taking the whole "I use a Mac" thing a bit too far.
yea i agree, a great story isnt really why somebody switched. i would love to hear the dodging bullets one though! :D

For me, I was tired with all of the problems with Windows. That drove me to get my iMac. It was my first Apple computer. I really liked it, and since then have purchased 2 MBP, one for me and one for my daughter in college.

My story as well.

Although, if the OP would search he'd find a thousand and one threads with some good experiences..

bloody awful tired of all the little and big defects that windows never addressed in xp from day one...
still using my 3rd xp/hp for the photo processing mac won't handle...
if they ever get os 10/6.2 stable and unjunked up it may just be a deathknell for MS....
w-7 is working real hard to alienate as many people as vista did...
800+ known bugs and counting...

In 1992, I had owned an Apple IIe for 9 years and it was time to upgrade. I looked at the MacOS and compared it to Windows 3 and it was a no-brainer for anyone who was new to a GUI and wanted the best computer experience. Apple was ahead in 1984 and most of the time it has led by very large margins for everyday computer tasks.. I currently use Vista on a dual boot MacBookPro, and it's reported that Windows 7 is good, but it still has the dreaded registry!

Why do I run Vista on my Mac? Gaming- the Macs Achilles heal... :p

I'm a university student now, and i simply do not have the time to sort out any glitches/problems/blue screens that i might encounter during my course. It would be devastating if any glitches would cause a complete wipeout of my Harddisk, all my work would simply be gone.

I'm not really into the habit of backing up my data regularly but i needed a platform where i can rely on when i needed it the most and mac has just given me that. Furthermore, I can use the mac right away with all its features and most file supports when i first purchased my mac mini and switched it on for the very first time.

My story begins in a small clearing....

You are in an open field west of a big white house with a boarded front door.
There is a small mailbox here......

I Zorked out big time, back in the day on a brandy spankin' IIc. I learned programming on a IIgs. But alas software for Macs was non existent in the cam world. So I went over to the PC side, and have been there until last year. But my heart always longed for more Zorkage. Vista was but a bad dream on the horizon and my faithful PC was on it's last leg. Times and needs changed. I opted to switch alliances once more. Today I am once again a happy Mac user...I picked up the jewel encrusted monkey wrench.

It's Dark. You are likely to be eaten by a Grue.

Anyway, as someone else said, I am not a Mac or a PC. I use both about equally. I really just use whatever is closest to me. I'm using my Powerbook right now because it happens to be sitting in my living room while I watch Numb3rs. Maybe it's because I'm a computer geek for a living, but I just view an OS as a tool. I've just never really had these problems other people say they have with Windows. To tell the truth, I started using OSX because I was a big Unix/Linux fan, and I found the UI to be the best UI I had used with a *Nix based OS. So I came for the *nix and stayed for the UI. :)

OK, I'll also admit I love the aesthetics. I really enjoy the look of the unibodys, the industrial look of the Mac Pro, and the cuteness of the Mini. I admit sometimes I want to hug my Mini. :D

You asked to hear our great stories, but exactly what makes going into a store and purchasing a computer so "great"?

Anyone here take a bullet while getting a Mac? Fight off terrorists at the Apple Store during their first Mac purchase? Make Paris Hilton infertile while stealing her Mac?

Well, I don't like to brag -- oh, who'm I kidding? :D

Anyway, I was in college, in the journalism program, when I saw my first Mac with a desktop-publishing program. I was never the same.

:apple:

My first Mac was a 512Ke I bought in 1989 and used for 5 years. Since then, I am on my 5th one. They are expensive, but they last a long time. I used to have this sig line,

"The guy at the store asked me why I didn't want a PC, 'Everyone else has one'. I replied, 'I think you have answered your own question there.'"

I use both. Grew up with DOS. I swear, the intelligence of the "average" user these days is seriously dipping. Back in the day you used to be able to gleam some kind of normal answers out of a user, mainly cause they weren't so simple and easy to use.

Do I like the Mac? Yes, this is my first. Waiting for the day they get official Win 7 support so I can install it. I dislike the hardcore users, on both sides of the fence. Had a friend the other day have a go at me for watching the MS keynote. WTF? It's not like I'm a geek and like to see what everyone is doing in the tech world?? *rolls eyes*

I used Windows most of my life, I hated it so much, such a pain in the ass.

I'm actually more of a Linux user, and I no longer consider myself a newbie :D people often ask me weird questions like "how the hell do you remember what to write in there?" (referring to me doing things in the terminal).

I love how OS X works and looks though, I am in the process of getting ethernet working on my hackintosh (a PC that I found at the local tip :p), once that works it will be the main computer in my room at school for assignments, movies and music :D

I was pc only until Sept 2007. I literally laughed at Macs. When my laptop went on the fritz I suddenly became very interested in the MBP. I went back and forth among lots of different laptops and decided the 15 inch MBP fit the bill because I liked the way it looked, knew it had some of if not the best build quality and components, and because I knew that if I didn't like OS X I could always load windows and call it a day.

I don't game on laptops normally, though I have used my MBP for a few games (WoW in particular) so that wasn't an issue. I haven't ever loaded windows via bootcamp and only tested Parallels and win7 for a small amount of time. I will NEVER buy another windows laptop unless Apple changes their OS for the worse to the point I can't justify it.

I like using a Mac so much when I needed a new computer for work and my company couldn't spend the cash (at the time) I actually went and bought a Mac Pro and waited for my company to pay me back. I use it in OS X for most things but have to run Win7 in Parallels for 2 pieces of software.

You know, I was actually going to write about the time I went to pick up my iPod Nano that had no scratch problem at all and I did all those things. Then went to the bar with Chuck Norris.

I had a sony vio. It took me forever to find out that all of the software on the machine was competing with each other. When I used my ipod on the machine windows media player would ask me over and over to make it the default music player. My buddy had a mac and never had to fight with the software. I bought the black macbook and loved the ease of use. Also loved the fact that all of the software i ever needed was included on the machine. NO 3rd party software. It simply worked.
