Bought my first laptop with Windows 98se. Loved it.

Had to upgrade so I could use the new version of Pro-Tools.

Bought a Vista laptop. Hated it.

Replaced Vista with Ubuntu. Loved it, but couldn't get Pro-Tools running on Wine.

Got fed up of always working in the studio, wanted to work at home at times.

Bought a mac.

Has lived happily ever after since. Even my car is more fuel efficient :p

Because now I have too much invested in my Mac (software, iPhone etc.) although I'd like to go back to being a PC. To be honest, I think I'll probably be a PC again by the end of 2010.

PC's aren't necessarily better, but Macs certainly aren't worth the extra £1,000.

Interesting, this post could have come from me.

The software investment and my weakness for beautiful designs are the only two things that still keep me in Apple land. But I already loathe Apple so much by now that I will soon be cutting my losses. (And no, I won't be going back to Windows. My current job is a great launch window to switch to Linux.)

There are a few reasons I made the switch. I am glad I did.

1. I primarily use Linux at work and Macs are Unix based.
2. Whenever I admired someone's work such as presetations etc. They used Macs.
3. I was tired of spyware and viruses. I had a pc virus that wiped my machine and changed my bios password.
4. I got an ipod and an iphone and they work great with Macs.
5. I really like MobileMe

well I've grown on Apple Computers since Apple IIE my First computer was a IIGS then grown on apple since then there was a 3 year period where i went to pc mainly for a few games but as soon as Apple announced the intel switch and bootcamp I jump back to the mac.

Mainly I love the mac for the following

UI Simply easy to use even for a first timer

settings everything is easy to understand and change if you need to compared to windows

iLife

Stable reliable and dont have to worry bout drivers being up to date as well.

For me, it isn't out great or wonderful Apple is.....it's how mediocre, borderline poor most of their competitors are.

I'm not about to pay tribute to anyone for antivirus production, either.

I made the switch for one main reason: Stability

I got really tired of rebooting my windows system just because some program crashed and took windows itself down with it. I don't have that problem with Macs and OSX. In fact, my Mac has been up for over a month without a reboot. I think I've gone over two months. Sure a program will crash from time to time. But the "damage" is contained to the application in question. The only time I have to reboot really is to install software updates. If it weren't for that, I'd probably only have to reboot once a year! It's wonderful. I love it.

I have never had to re-install the system on any of the Macs I have owned. More than two decades. Classic Mac OS would crash from time to time, but it would always boot back to an undamaged HD.
