Android is likely doing the exact same thing that Apple is doing.

Not at all because people switch to different brands if a rom sucks and slows down.

I never said that. I said that apple is doing this to prevent phones from shutting off randomly because of the batteries degrading, and would you rather your phone shut off randomly versus it still being usable but just slower?

It is not little bit slower
People report it is unusable
People have benchmark it and it is 60% slower
Would you want a phone that is crazy slow that is unusable or more battery?

Then get the battery replaced. Simple.

Why is a year old phone in danger of shutting down?

I also have an iPhone 7 as a backup phone and sense no issues in it being slower, and my battery still lasts over a day?

No, crazy many people report their pretty new iPhone 7 suddenly become an almost unusable phone after updating to iOS 11. Apple officially support this "function" for iPhone 7.
Some people also going nuts over a 0,000005 second delay when pressing the homebutton or when an UI animation sometimes drops a single frame. Also, there are always complains about slow performances after EVERY iOS update.

Battery replacement may only helps for like 3 months? People with very new iPhone 7 report crazy slow down

Those are skinned Android phones. Unskinned Android
Good Android rom doesn't have this issue. You know it is open source so anyone can make one.

I am not going to buy any phone if I know it's speed would be 40% after months. No matter Android or iPhone.
Only 40% speed good for u?
Go be a product for Google. Allow them to market every single thing about you. Never had an iPhone that got throttled. Had plenty of Android phones that slowed down big time within months. Of course those phones had outdated software the instant they were sold. Google, doesn’t care about updating Android phones. They would rather use you as a product.

Just because someone reports their 7 is slowing down does NOT mean it is Apple throttling your device.

There are many reasons a phone may slow down and you can not blame Apple for all of them.

The hysteria here is getting funny!

The massive slow down includes iPhone 7 which is very new, then why buy x or 8 when we already know it will be slow down so much just few months later? X being the fastest phone now but expecting 60% speed decrease?

WTF, have you read up on this issue? My 15 month old iPhone 7 still performs at the top of the GB4 benchmarks. "...just a few months later...?" Educate yourself before you claim the sky has fallen on you.

My signature should say: smartphones are only for smart people.

They never said they are slowing down phone after a few months. They are talking about phones that are 2+ years old.

The iPhone 6s was released in fall 2015. Apple issued a battery recall for a "very small" fraction of iPhone 6s models in fall 2016. Apple released an iOS update with the throttle cheat in early 2017.

That shows Apple was throttling for a phone that was just 1 year old, not 2+ years old. Look at the events that happened and it is clear they are trying to avoid a larger recall of defective batteries.

User replaceable battery should be standard (as it was) and EU should make it mandatory like the USB charger....for all devices!

That and allowing user to restore older version of the os.... then and only then this mess will be sorted.

EDIT:
I know it won't ever happen, but the dream lives!
