And yet the screen on the gs3 has been rated extremely highly by many many people. It probably just comes down to your own personal preference between slcd and amoled technologies.

There's also a pretty good chance that the screen in your Apple device is a Samsung panel... At least for now.

they dropped Samsung panels a long time ago, just about every display is now made from LG/Sharp

Through to 2012 Samsung was the largest supplier of panels to Apple. I would not call this a "long time ago".

iPad up to iPad 3 had Samsung Panels in them and Macbook Airs and Pros still have Samsung Panels in them.

My Retina MBP had a LG panel in it, had major image retention. I shipped it to Apple, they replaced it with a Samsung panel and it's perfect.

As far as the phones in comparison go, I've owned a GS3, iPhone 5, and currently use a Galaxy Note 2.

I believe the Galaxy S3's display is subpar due to the Pentile matrix. The Note 2 while having a lower PPI, appears much sharper to me. It's currently my daily phone. The iPhone 5's display is very very good, albeit small. It's colors are accurate and they pop.

Still, no display can compare to the Droid DNA.
