on this subject, on the show 'sex in the city' you see she's using an older powerbook, maybe a 'lombard' or something, the apple logo is upside down when the machine is open and in use.

was the logo once upside down on the older powerbooks? (the black case ones)

hrmmmm

Just coz i see that when my MBP is open and in use, someone sitting opposite me see's the logo the correct way up.

Covering the logo is an excellent idea. The only people who are anal enough to recognise it as a mac already have one. If it wasn't covered up we'd get all manner of riff raff wanting to buy macs, thus lowering the tone for everyone.

Well on the coloured clamshell portables - the apple logo was upside down so to speak (right way up to the user - but upside down if someone is across the desk from you etc).

I guess apple wanted to take advantage of product placement in motion pictures/tv etc - not to mention other people watching your on your mac...

I noticed in the early days of 'Mythbusters', they were using apple portables left and right without hiding their logo. Now...the current eps have them taping the apple logo - someone didn't come to the party I guess- the price of success...
