Jesus.
You only have to look at the Acer tablet thingy forum that has been closed in this alternative section - where the mod has asked people to 'continue the discussion' on the home page article.
Alright.

It's virtually impossible to have a discussion with a bunch of fan boys who comment (or like) posts like 'Google is such a joke lol'.

I mean, these people are supposed adults. It is the most pathetic thing I've ever seen.
But this is 'an Apple forum' so why am I on an 'Apple forum' if I don't want to love Apple and choose something else. Man, that gets boring really fast.

Maybe, we joined here when Apple was our preference (certainly was in my case), back when I found them innovative, and back when Android hardware and software couldn't even get close to competing. Now it's the other way around. It's only end of last year with the X where Apple have been able to compete, hardware wise with the best from Samsung design etc.

As for the software, well I know which I favour.

I have chosen iPhone again recently over Android but that's only because I've had some run of bad luck with my Pixel 2's and the S9 just wasn't quite for me.
If someone told me I had to go back to Android tomorrow, I would happily jump ship. But I do like the X a lot.

I still use a PixelBook though, and will hopefully still dip my toe into Android every so often although I do need to curb my splashing out on new devices... :D.

1. I didn't know there was "sub-forums"
2. I didn't know just saying I preferred Android was such a big deal
3. If I could delete it I would
4. Sorry OP

I’ve had nothing but iPhones since the OG iPhone was released. I played around with Android over the years, but was never really impressed. I picked up a pretty well used S8 last month and absolutely love it (still getting used to everything though). The endless customization that Android offers is something that I’ve grown fond of.

My iPhone X is my daily driver, but I’m seriously thinking about selling it and buying the S9 or Pixel 2. I have an Apple Watch, but I have been thinking of selling that as well. Hell will have to freeze over before I part ways with my 10.5” IPP though. My rMBP will be sold soon as I will be using my IPP full time.

The one thing that holds me back from going with Android full time is iMessage and FaceTime. I do use those services heavily, especially with my wife. I can have my wife download the Duo app to replace FaceTime, but I’m trying to figure out how to replace iMessage. I use WhatsApp frequently with friends, but my wife doesn’t use it. Worse comes to worse, we can just SMS (Android messages decent?)

Whatsapp is a great iMessage alternative. Also, give Telegram a try, its really fast and reliable. It combines imessage and facetime. Also bots and stickers in Telegram r awesome, it also has an online and desktop versions for both mac and pc.

I now use Telegram as my no 1 chat app, as does most of my family. Its great, fast, very reliable and platform agnostic.

Fewer limitations, freedom, faster evolution, more choices and better value from fierce competition which benefits consumers.

Also, privacy since Android doesn't require a login to use unlike iOS that requires an Apple ID login to track everything to iCloud.

I bought my first Android phone around 2012 or so when the iPhone 5 came out. I didn't feel that the iPhone 5 was a worthy upgrade so I skipped the iPhone that year and bought a Nexus 4. It wasn't a bad first Android phone but the battery life on that phone was horrendous.

The Next year, I skipped the iPhone 6 and bought a Note 4 and a Note Edge. Since then, I've consistently bought a new Android or two every year but I've always used an iPhone as well. This year, I skipped the X and bought a new 7+ in November. I also bought a Note 8 back in September. I bought an unlocked S8+ last June but sold it almost two months ago while I could still get more then half of what I paid for it and I did.

Next year, I'll probably buy a new iPhone 8+ and the next Note. My T-Mobile Note 8 is unlocked and updated to Oreo as of last night. I am using AT&T on the phone and several features that previously didn't work before Oreo, now work such as WiFi calling.

Im not a sheep lmao I’ve only owned 2 iPhones a 7 and the X. Use to absolutely hate Apple. I had galaxys s series 1-8 and notes 3-5. Use to talk really bad about Apple as people on here do. But one thing I didn’t do is buy other products from Apple back then. These idiots on here purchase Apple products then talk sh** about them. Makes no since.
Lol, your posts make no sense at all dude.

I buy any brand and will be critical of them if I see issues or products of theirs I do not like. Same way that I buy Samsung phones but dislike their Tablets, while I buy Apple iPads but dislike Apple iPhones.

You do realize you can like some products from a manufacturer and not like some right? Because he likes the MBP that means he must love every other Apple product?

You're essentially saying anyone that likes the MBP can not bash any other Apple product no matter what. How is that logical?
Nope, it seems he is totally lost he just does not understand the concept of buying what you want. He thinks if you have 1 Apple product you must like every single one of their products

Surprisingly this is how a lot of people think. A friend of mine saw me using Apple Music on my Note8, so he asked me why I just don't get an iPhone, lol. I said going by that logic, if I use Microsoft Excel, Office 365 and Exchange then I should have a Windows Phone as well? Some people don't seem to fully grasp the concept of using what works for you instead of just going all in on one brand and having to compromise.

Im with you mate!! I own an Apple Laptop and an Android phone because that is what works for me. Then you get the idiot fanboys on this site saying "why post on an Apple forum if you have an Android phone" Bloody idiots.

For me, I am pretty much stuck with the Apple eco-system owing to the type of hearing aids I currently have, its technology allows streaming from the iDevice to the hearing aids without requiring additional accessories. Perhaps one day Android may adopt Apple’s hearing aid streaming propriety [combination of 2.4GHz wifi and Bluetooth I think!], until then...

But you cant' use full blown desktop programs. . Illustrator, photoshop etc, how do you cope? I'm assuming that as you had a mbp, you did slightly more than just browse and email..

Yes I like using android as well. In iOS, it's universal to swipe right to go back. [Thus no need for back button] IOS is adopting a gesture system which it's more natural and faster to me. However, when scrolling fast, it's easy for the system to mistake that as a back gesture. So I think android way can be more accurate but iOS can be intuitive once you get used to it.

So if you are in the photo app, and have a load of pics, how does ios know if you actually want to swipe right to see the pic on the right, or want to go back. Seems like a bit of a half baked idea really.. the old rubbish spouted by fanboys when they have copied an idea "apple waited to get it right" couldn' be more wrong here..

The only reason I bought an iPhone X is because no other phone with this size has a dual camera which I love. I cannot get a phone bigger than the iPhone X because it wont fit in my BMW's phone cradle under the arm rest which supports wireless charging so that's a nice convenience to always have the phone charged and I get the dual cameras. The Galaxy S9+ won't fit so I was forced to get an iPhone X, not by choice.
Check out LG V30. LGs high end phones offered dual cameras since G5 and V20s'.. Can take wide angle photos with those. I don't think the dual cam's on iphonex take wide angle photos.

Anyways, price is not a factor for me. Apple in general is all about "locking you in" in their ecosystem in every way possible. I choose Android because of the flexibility android offers me. i can change nearly everything with android, make it totally personalized and i'm not talking about changing wallpaper. it will be a very long post if i was to list shortcomings of ios. i mean it's good and simple but way too restrictive, at least for me.

For swipe to go back you have to start from the edge of the screen. Swiping left or right between photos doesn't require you to start at the edge of the screen.

LG V30 is too big to fit in the phone cradle in my BMW M4. That's the thing, no phone bigger than the iPhone X would fit, not even by a small margin. I think the max screen size that would fit is 5'8 inches
