Sure, the side bonus is that people that want an iPhone without paying Pro prices, this is for them too. This may very well be true. It makes sense.

What makes you say that ?This phone was definitely marketed towards the corporate device world.
Cheaper price, most recent iPhone with most recent software. Easier to convince purchasing a bulk order of $600 vs unnecessary pro devices. If certain departments need that level of phone, then a special order can do it.What makes you say that ?

In certain industries, especially regulated ones, that is not the case. Many large corporates are moving away from issuing phones and have moved to a BYOD policy …. Management of physical devices is expensive and clumsy
Absolutely …. Although some are moving that way, BYOD with relevant security / control apps installed. Of course some will never be BYOD. But in the general corporate world there has been a massive shift to BYOD. Yeah I work in a regulated industry and we are always warned to always use VPNs, company devices, and secure emails. So far, most of the company is on the iPhone 12 and there are still plenty of people using the iPhone 8 so who knows, maybe the 16e is next haha.Absolutely …. I bought a MagSafe case for mine for $9 on Amazon. They’re not expensive. It’s an iPhone 16 with a few bells and whistles removed for a $200 discount. If you ask me, it’s actually a very smart move. A price-conscious person who’s looking to save money isn’t ever going to buy a MagSafe case anyway, so they won’t care about the loss of it.
In previous years, people would complain about the various SE versions when they knew that they would not consider the phone. Those of us who went from the iPhone 8 to the 2020 iPhone SE to the 2022 iPhone SE acknowledged what it was, which was exactly what we wanted. All of the hate for the 16e is from people that don't want it, but also lack the ability to view the device from someone else's perspective.
I know it's not for me, but I can easily see why other people will want it. If nothing else, it's the new SE offering when there hasn't been one in a couple of years. Plenty of people have signed up for that line of phones and will buy this one without thinking about any of the details that are being stewed over in these threads.

True. I guess those of us who are iPhone 13 mini users weren’t the audience. For me a lower priced phone makes sense given they all perform the same functions and I just need something that has modern features like satellite calling. But alas it wasn’t meant to be. Darn. It’s an iPhone 16 with a few bells and whistles removed for a $200 discount. If you ask me, it’s actually a very smart move. It's an iPhone. It'll sell. Let's remember that they managed to sell the 5C.
The iPhone 5c was a good phone in a hardened plastic body.
A few disjointed thoughts:
- removed coils resulted in bigger battery, surely (win)
- perfect for company issued phones (love that point people are making. The SE’s were a tiny joke for the sales team out there working everyday at my company. The larger screen will be welcomed)
- Larger Screen will be very welcomed by the general public.
- love the design (single camera that pulls double duty, and doesn’t poke out super far.)
-only complaint is across the board, not just the E: I wish every phone had Promotion. It’s very bothersome to go backwards to 60Hz refresh. If it weren’t for the refresh rate I’d consider getting the E.
I have been happy with the 16e thus far. The increased battery life is noticeable and much appreciated.
Let we see, 16e has a seemingly very capability camera a NO HUGE camera bump, it has the tech most normal people care about like a good OLED screen, compact size, very lightweight, excellent battery life, Apple security with Face ID, it has the features Apple cares about like Apple AI capability, Apples new own modem, ability to be updated for years with security patches.
You can add MagSafe too it easily with a case, it is a good phone. And has a nice design.
The 16e I think will creep up in sales, and if they change their line up this year to:
16e
17
Air
17 Pro
17 Ultra
Then we could see a price shift across the range?
In case anyone is still interested I soaked off the steel magring adhesive in acetone and glued it to the Spigen SE2022 case with epoxy resin. And then the heat of charging softened the adhesive and it stuck to the magnet...
